The world's first museum of KÖRPERWELTEN showcases unique plastinates that provide visitors with easily understandable detailed knowledge about individual organ functions as well as common illnesses.
It offers insights into the highly complex structures of the body's interior and illustrates what connects us, keeps us upright and in motion, and allows us to laugh and love.

The plastinates shown in the exhibition come from the body donation program of the Institute of Plastination in Heidelberg, where more than 22,000 donors are now registered.

In his new, fast-paced comedic program, parodist and entertainer Thomas Nicolai switches characters as quickly as Klaus Kinski once switched moods. The personified "Kessel Buntes" entangles various figures in scenes that provide unorthodox assistance, reveal oddities, and revisit historical events, often culminating in a ridiculous escalation point.

No Nicolai show would be complete without musical parodies. Between Coldplay and country, Max Raabe and Vamos a la Playa, as well as Modern Talking and modern electronic sound, the auditory senses and laughing muscles are put to the test. He is accompanied by his virtuoso long-time partner Robert Neumann, who eagerly gets involved in every gag. In the end, there are laugh after laugh and the certainty that 1000 voices are better off with him than with some election candidates.

Puppet theater for ages 4 and up, freely based on Grimm

“Oh no, don’t tell us again about the big bad wolf,” the kids call to their mother as she warns them: “Don’t open the door for anyone.”

Barely has the goat left the house when the hungry wolf knocks on the door and charmingly asks for entry. The kids wonder: The wolf is supposed to be dangerous – but if someone is so nice, surely he means no harm? Besides, it’s delightfully spooky to have a real wolf standing at the door.

Suddenly, the fun is over. The mother comes back – and finds no children, but the snoring wolf with a big belly. Spoiler: Luckily, it’s a fairy tale, and in the end, the goat family dances and sings into the day!

Corinna's chaotic lifestyle as an insatiable meat-eater strains the delicate nerves of the vegan neat-freak enormously. In return, she coaches him on approaching attempts, as David is hopelessly in love with his neighbor. The fact that he is successful under Corinna’s direction doesn’t sit well with her at all. Because after 14 days, she is no longer so unwillingly here. But quarantines can be extended. Because suspicious coughing can be heard from the neighboring apartment. From October 13 to 17, 2026, Alle Farben, Klangkarussell, Westbam, Anja Schneider, Chris Bekker, and Ukãi Ndame will showcase a completely different side – away from their club sets, deep in ambient and spherical sound.
Festival of Lights in Concert: When light speaks the language of emotions and music flows through the walls like a living heartbeat, something extraordinary emerges: an immersive total work of art as part of the internationally celebrated Festival of Lights Berlin. An unforgettable experience for all who love art and music.

DJ & Producer Chris Bekker is a resident at the Piepshow in the Berlin Kitkat Club and has been signed to Paul van Dyk's label Vandit Records since 2013. Since 2016, he has been producing the sounds for different landmarks of the Festival of Lights.
Especially for the series 'Festival of Lights in Concert', he has re-composed his biggest global hits as ambient versions.

What do I see when I look in the mirror? Myself as a unit, myself as a form, myself in motion? And when others see me – what do they see? The expectation is simple, the projection reductive, the stereotype fixed. But we are not simple and unchangeable, we are not monoliths! However, how do I show the multiplicity that I am? How do I become the diversity that I could be?

The dancer and choreographer Ashley Temba seeks in As I Want an image of himself, permeated by cracks and splits, shaped by external forces, marked by diverse deposits, and grown in its own time. The current self is the result of numerous decisions and conscious changes. It has always been in motion – despite all external attributions and attempts at fixation. Dance is the medium to show this change. Today, I am a choreography of my selves.

Ashley Temba was last seen as a dancer and performer in Flight of the Canaries (2023) by Bishop Black. In his art, he combines numerous disciplines into the directness and power he seeks. Now he has embarked on this venture. For here, in the portrait performances developed at Ballhaus Naunynstraße, what matters is not what one has always done, what others expect of you, the role profile; here, what matters is what is important to oneself. PORTRAIT is the invitation to artists to show themselves and their art. It is the invitation to the audience to encounter artists in previously unseen complexity.

A lot of folks are worried about the state of democracy in the United States. Is it teetering on the brink? Is a civil war looming? Are the tech billionaires supporting its downfall?

Thanksgiving in Berlin. Fred and his US-American wife Rhonda have invited guests from her motherland over for a turkey dinner. Inevitably, the conversation drifts from the American Dream, via Karl May and Western movies, to the topic of all topics: What is going on in the US? Strangely enough, Dolly Parton seems to be in the room, too. And a country & western band magically appears. The evening escalates...

In the fourth installment of its "Conversations with Cultural Icons" series, coproducing with ETB/IPAC The Waltraud Experience tackles one of the most pressing issues of our time: Where are the United States headed? The right and the left stand in completely irreconcilable opposition; a stalemate has been reached.

Country music icon Dolly Parton – who sadly passed away on August 25th – was often looked to as a unifying figure; someone both the right and the left can agree on. Yet, a closer look reveals that Dolly prefered to stay out of it … she sang, she cracked jokes, and she championed “positive thinking”… but politics? No thanks.

Between the chapters of the novel "Das glückliche Schicksal" (Rowohlt, 2026), which centers on a Polish-Jewish scientist in exile, there are decades-long gaps. Matthias Nawrat leaps back and forth in his book between the Gulag archipelago and the Solidarność in Poland in the 1980s. He also navigates between forced labor in Germany and exile in Venice. Between the statistical human and individual responsibility, between game theory, cybernetics, and social psychology. In the gaps, in the in-between, there might be answers to questions that Nawrat does not ask, but that arise for the readers: How do we tell of crimes against humanity? How do we judge involvement in historical events? How do we act in the present? Answers might be found in conversation with the author and the Bielefeld social scientist Kornelia Kończal, or they might contradict each other? In cooperation with Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
