Saskia Kästner and Dirk Rave present the best from Western novels
The music comedy duo Schwester Cordula is a unique experience that captivates the audience through the combination of acting, singing, and humor by Saskia Kästner and the virtuosic accordion playing of Dirk Rave.
They are a cult phenomenon and get the room roaring – with pulp novels. Of course, not just any, because what the two bring to the stage is the best of the stereotypes from many novels, which they condense into a new story and theatrically present. Musically brilliantly countered by symphonic compositions, opera, and even pop and rock.
Now they follow up: The trilogy of the legendary programs about doctor, mother, and hometown novels will be expanded with a Western novel.
Cowboys! Real men, few words, freedom, solitude, and adventure. And when in doubt, they prefer to shoot too much rather than too little – such is the idealized notion. But Schwester Cordula shows us what Western heroes look like today. They are single fathers, left disillusioned by experience-hungry city women searching for meaning. These cowboys are men with responsibilities, a well-trained body, and a charming dimple. Without illusions, just sex, no love. Except for their children. And their horses.
The image of men changing over time. One thing remains unchanged: "My name is Hunter." Of course. Not Uwe or Kai. Hunter. Dirty. Rough. Sexy. Sigh!
Saskia Kästner is a stage animal. She chirps, coos, lures, comments, cries, and dances, virtuously slipping into all roles, bringing the texts to life so vividly that the audience can hardly breathe from laughter. And she sings brilliantly. Beside her, Dirk Rave shines with his musical talent and his endless calmness.
Saskia Kästner and Dirk Rave were awarded the coveted Baden-Württemberg Small Arts Prize 2023 with "Schwester Cordula."
