APPOINTMENT WITH DEATH
Translated into German by Michael Raab
As a LIVE-AUDIO PLAY by the Extra-Ensemble
The tyrannical Mrs. Boynton has her adult stepchildren under her unbending control.
Lennox and his wife Nadine, Ginevra and Raymond have no friends, no jobs, no contact with the world outside their family.
At least until they suddenly travel with their stepmother and encounter a colorful group of travelers: the young doctor Dr. Sarah King, the arrogant Lady Westholme, the cheerful councilman Higgs, the friendly Jefferson Cope, the scatterbrained Miss Pryce, and the insightful psychologist Dr. Theodore Gerard.
From Jerusalem, they head to the legendary rock city of Petra, all according to Mrs. Boynton's strict will. And then, a murder occurs…
The ExtraEnsemble – following the successful collaboration with the Museum "Portal zur Geschichte" – ventures into new territory with the format of the live audio play.
Similar to "The Three Investigators," all voices, music, and sounds are created live on stage.
In the setting of the Summer Palace Brunshausen, the atmosphere of a hotel, an archaeological excavation site, and the murder becomes tangible only through sounds and voices.
Agatha Christie's theatrical adaptation of her novel "Appointment with Death" – known from the film featuring Sir Peter Ustinov – is presented in an entirely new way at the Gandersheimer Domfestspiele.
