Focusing on media art from Taiwan, the HYBRID Biennale 2026 presents the Taipei-based creative lab and network NAXS Studio, which has been developing immersive theater forms, audiovisual performances, as well as XR and interactive installations since 2015, and the live artist and music producer Meuko! Meuko! with her current album. Both projects open up new possibilities and spaces for encounters while simultaneously making the ambivalence of technological proximity visible: they create forms of connection and encounter while urging us to critically question the new forms of isolation, distance, and alienation that can arise with digital technologies.

Starting from the myth of the Katabasis – the descent into the underworld – the interactive audiovisual project by director Ugo Arsac explores the underground subway labyrinth of New York, the unknown or invisible layers and spaces of the city. “Katábasis” gives a voice to those people who live in these spaces, work through their tunnels, or hide in their corners: Hidden in unexpected places, their stories collide and resonate, creating a vibrant and complex territory.

The experience shifts perspective and reveals the entrails of the metropolis of New York in the heart of a polarized American society. The audience can explore this extraordinary project with VR glasses, which open up possibilities for individual experience while also allowing for a collective journey. “Katábasis” was awarded the Golden Palm for Best Immersive Work at the Cannes Film Festival in 2026 and will be presented in HELLERAU in October on selected dates.

Triple Blend from NRW invites you to an unforgettable evening full of atmosphere and entertainment. As an a cappella trio, the group completely forgoes instruments and demonstrates that the human voice can replace an entire band. The three singers Rachel Tedder (Bielefeld), Lana Schmidt-Bindl (Enger), and Ernest Schönberger (Düsseldorf) take the audience on a musical and entertaining journey through Universal Music and the history of mood systems. Whether for musical highlights or humorous entertainment – Triple Blend delivers a show that ensures a great atmosphere.

Energetic takeoff into the sound universe

The launch pad is in Vienna – and from there, the quartet ALPHA TRIANGULI regularly takes off to explore new sound galaxies. Four musicians, four instruments, a common course: out into musical spaces that have not been heard before. Inspired by the vastness of the universe and the joy of discovery, they combine energetic grooves with floating, almost weightless moments.
With trombone, vibraphone, bass, and drums, the band traverses its own cosmos: sometimes the vibraphone sparkles like a field of stars, sometimes the bass, as a gravitational center, captivates everything. The drums provide thrust and orientation, while the trombone guides through the scene like a narrative voice – sometimes warm and earthy, sometimes wide and open, as if sending signals into space.
Their debut album Entering Zero Gravity was released in 2023 by the Swiss label Unit Records and has taken the four musicians to numerous stages: across Europe, to Thailand and the USA. Whether as a pure concert or a multimedia experience, always with the goal of taking the audience on their journey through sound fogs, unknown planets, and acoustic black holes.
Now the musical spaceship docks at the Tonne. ALPHA TRIANGULI brings their adventures from the sound cosmos and invites you to take off with them.

The wine tasting includes the tasting of 8 Saxon white and red wines as well as a sparkling wine. I will also serve white bread and cheese cubes.
In addition to an introduction to the individual wine varieties, you will also gain insight into the history of the Saxon wine-growing region as well as interesting facts about wine production.

A cabaret piece by Wolfgang Schaller

On a train platform, the unemployed pig's ear seller Dörte, who wants to become a superstar (Birgit Schaller), the aspiring doctor Walentin Karl, who always knows what's going on (Alexander Pluquett), and the Saxon Fridolin Kasper, whose company Coffins & Co always does well when others are in trouble (Frank Weiland) wait. In the midst of all crises, their motto is: Laugh when it's time to cry. Wolfgang Schaller's darkly humorous, quirky texts reflect an absurd reality between loud laughter and quiet contemplation. Jens Wagner and Volker Fiebig once again demonstrate the musicality of the ensemble.
The DNN wrote after the celebrated premiere: "Laughter wakes you up, and polished wordplay activates the brain. For those who allow laughter, it sometimes gets stuck in their throat. The rebellious Normalo trio serves quick, socially critical knee-slappers and immediately turns with bitter mockery to the great wheels of our civilization, which are already running in the sand."

The NotenDealer, a comedy pop band from Dresden, have become a solid fixture in the German entertainment landscape since their founding in 2004. The start is at the Staatsweingut "Schloss Wackerbarth" this time.
We walk over the stone stairs "Himmelsleiter" past the "Jacobstein" to the "Volkssternwarte". After a wine break, we head downhill to the former 1st Saxon sparkling wine cellar "Bussard", built in 1836 as a "factory for sparkling wines" (the second oldest in Germany). From there, we hike back up to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Radebeul, the König-Friedrich-August-Höhe at the water tower.
Next, we continue to one of the oldest vineyards, the "Paradies". From there, we walk through the Lößnitzgrund past Lößnitzbach and the narrow-gauge railway to the electoral vineyard estate "Hoflößnitz", the only certified organic vineyard in Saxony. After a tasting in the organic vineyard, we will visit a historical wine press and then walk to the wine cellar "Am Goldenen Wagen".

With their new dance performance, the guts company invites you on a journey through the Neustädter Markthalle. Equipped with headphones, the audience follows three dancers and immerses in a world of dance, sound, history, and architecture. The Neustädter Markthalle is located in close proximity to the Societaetstheater. Opened in 1899, it originally hosted around 300 stalls and was a central hub of public life in the Neustadt. Today, the original atmosphere, the abundance of goods, smells, and people who met here daily can only be guessed at. The mere 15 vendors seem lost among the vacancies. SCHIMMER DES UNSICHTBAREN is a sensual-documentary engagement with the Neustädter Markthalle that makes the layers of time visible. A search for memories, identities, and what connects us all. A poetic dialogue between the past and present that questions what was, what is, and what could be.

The guts company designs and realizes classic stage productions, open presentation formats, installations, site-specific works, discourse formats, and public laboratory situations. Their practice of co-authorship, also with other arts and sciences, repeatedly renders genre boundaries obsolete. In addition to a constant engagement with social themes, motivations and movements, utopias and visions of potential coexistence, or the human instinct for survival, it aims to resonate with the physical and emotional center of the audience. Based in Dresden, the company works regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Discover the unique fusion of tradition and innovation at SAXONY MEETS TAIWAN 3.0 – TRADINOVATION! This international stage show combines classical ballet, contemporary dance, urban styles, as well as Kung Fu and Tai Chi. Experience dance as a vibrant art form, enhanced by Asian brush painting and calligraphy of Taiwanese artist Mu-Yu Chen, large-scale live projections, and innovative augmented reality elements. MuNo-Productions, known for interdisciplinary projects between Saxony and Taiwan, brings an extraordinary performance to the stage under the direction of Mu-Yi Chen and Norbert Kegel. Both artists have more than 25 years of stage experience and merge their classical ballet training with a variety of styles. Let yourself be enchanted by this cultural dialogue and witness how dance, visual art, and digital media merge together. Members of the MuNo-DanceStudio Radebeul (youth ensemble) as well as six professional dancers from the fields of ballet and contemporary dance will perform.

Afro-Latin American music with fiery rhythms
A double concert brings together the hot sounds of two bands that take the audience on a spirited journey.
Kicking off is La Cumbiamba, a colorful, multicultural band from Dresden, with their unique blend of Cumbia, Afro-Samba, and Reggae. South American rhythms and multi-part vocals combine here with the multifaceted interplay of string instruments, flutes, trumpet, trombone, and drums, inviting everyone to dance and sing along.
Afterwards, Canelazo from Dresden takes over and leads the musical journey halfway around the world and back again. Named after the hot, aromatic drink from the Andes, this seven-member formation cannot be pigeonholed into any fixed genre. Their own pieces are a danceable mix of relaxed Reggae, Blues, Latin American rhythms, and lively offbeats. It is music that evokes memories of a warm summer evening by the campfire under a clear starry sky and spreads a carefree holiday vibe.

What do Widor, Reger, and Gubaidulina have in common? They all engaged with Johann Sebastian Bach through their compositions. In this program, Bach encounters his musical reflections: works that utilize his structure, continue his language, and challenge him. The cellist Jan Vogler, based in Dresden and New York, and organist Christian Schmitt explore together the musical heritage of the baroque great master: with original works and reflections through the centuries. The cello sings, the organ sustains, together they open sound spaces. An evening full of depth – for the curious, the connoisseurs, and the seekers.
