Man. Woman. Object. And now? GAZE ON BALANCE examines the themes of gender and balance. The focus is on the art of object balancing and its connection to societal gender roles. Through the artistic handling of symbolically loaded everyday objects, the performers from KLUB GIRKO question the construction of "masculine" and "feminine". The man balances an axe and the woman a dustcloth. But what happens when they swap objects? Or when both balance a car tire together? Questions arise about the assignment of strength, lightness, power, and control, opening up space for new interpretations. GAZE ON BALANCE is presented in excerpts as a "Work in Progress". The presentation leads the audience through the entire Societaetstheater and is designed as a scenic parcours with various stations. This way, different insights into the developing piece are revealed. The world premiere takes place in March 2026 at the Societaetstheater.

RAUM.ZEIT

Sand-filled spheres and perforated zinc vessels hover, roll, and rotate. They trace movements, leave fleeting traces, and form ephemeral landscapes. The sand becomes the central material and metaphor: it stores time, makes change visible, and opens associative spaces between memory, transience, and balance. In the freely accessible live installation RAUM.ZEIT, Tobias Piero Dohm combines performative composition, spatial intervention, and material research with installation, object manipulation, and dance – accompanied by a live-composed sound design by Fabian Laute.

The combo ticket is valid for both consecutive performances on this day.

The participatory theater is a special form of theater acting, in which Sigrun Stiehl tells the fairy tale, slips into the various fairy tale characters and roles, and involves the children in the enchanting play with costumes.

The collective KLUB GIRKO, based in Jena, was founded in 2017. The company develops new artistic formats by merging circus with dance, theater, music, visual arts, and digital media. The core of their work is a spirit of experimentation and the constant reinvention of what circus can be – in exchange with contemporary societal discourses.

Dizziness or Latin Vertigo refers to the sensation of spinning or swaying, the feeling of not being able to move safely in space, or the sense of impending unconsciousness. Dizziness also informally means fraud. Hinnerk Köhn embodies both.

Growing up believing he could make it to the top, he learned the magical rule "Fake it till you make it" and fought his way with minimal effort as a mega-privileged white young man into the stand-up comedy scene. Fighting is quite a strong word here.

But that's over now. Hinnerk no longer wants to lie. Hinnerk wants to be even more honest than in his last two shows, Hinnerk wants to show himself on stage, Hinnerk wants to shed the show-Hinnerk and present the real Hinnerk. And luckily, he is even funnier than the old one. Maybe a little crazier, a little more reckless, but definitely better.

Because while other people are having fun, Hinnerk is desperately grappling with himself and trying to pull something positive out of his misfortune. And watching him is extremely enjoyable. And maybe he'll even sing something.

Before I forget

After his 50 years at the Herkuleskeule, he is often referred to as a stalwart of cabaret, which he doesn't like because it sounds as if "I had already been there at the Big Bang". During the presentation of his book "Before I Forget", there were standing ovations. After the premiere, the DNN called him a "clairvoyant analyst and formulating artist". "Some of my texts," he says, "only come to life when they are performed." That's why he brings Birgit Schaller to his side, who is celebrated in her solo programs as a "comedic singing full-bodied woman". An evening with a rollercoaster of pure cheerfulness and quiet melancholy. The SZ called Birgit and Wolfgang Schaller the "dream couple of German cabaret. He gives her the best texts and she gilds them on stage."
"Before I Forget" has been published as a book by Eulenspiegel Verlag and is available signed at the Herkuleskeule. Dieter Hildebrandt assured him his "esteem" and wished him "the lasting trust of his followers, to which I belong." Werner Schneyder saw in him a "torn between dreamed utopia and reality, between defiance and resignation, between steadfastness and concern", and Peter Ensikat called his satire "one where the fun stops being harmless." In his 51 years as an author at the Dresdner Kabarett Herkuleskeule and 30 years as a columnist for the Sächsische Zeitung, Wolfgang Schaller became one of the most well-known authors. Some of his cabaret texts and columns have long since become cult. Awarded with the Satire Star on the Walk of Fame of Cabaret in 2009 and as Dresdner of the Year in 2018, Schaller is giving himself a gift with this book, and the publisher is confident that for the readers who buy the book, it is also one.

In a society increasingly characterized by acceleration, overstimulation, and interpersonal alienation, RAUM.ZEIT creates moments of collective slowing down, sensory presence, and connectedness.

Saudade de ti
Saudade de Ti revolves around a feeling that is hard to grasp yet universal: Saudade – the bittersweet longing for the past. It is the desire to return once again to places, people, experiences – or to an earlier self and live the life we once had. This feeling is often associated with the "decline of age," yet it can confront us at any stage of life.
In their performance, Carlos Aller and Cecilia Bartolino dive into nostalgia, not to dwell in it, but to seek a path towards healing. With contemporary dance inspired by theater, partnering, contact improvisation, as well as elements of breakdance and hip-hop, they create an intense, physical dialogue with the audience – an exchange that touches and leads into one’s own memories.

Performance duration: 35 minutes, followed by a break

Nothing happens
Nothing Happens showcases the fractures and contradictions of our modern lives. With absurdity and irony, the artists lead us to the global issues that often hide behind the facade of the ordinary. Inspired by works such as Schrödinger’s cat and Yuval Noah Harari’s Homo Deus, the piece reveals the unresolved paradoxes of our time.
The performers shift between fractured identities trapped in endless, surreal loops, reflecting a world that evades the truth. Hidden realities, silent wounds, shifting roles, and the pressing reality of global warming reveal a culture that darkens itself to avoid consequences.
Through their bodily expression, the artists capture the dichotomy of our time. Voices of artificial intelligence echo like distant sounds in this space between self and reflection. And the piece asks: Are we ready to break the silence and confront the pressing truths of our time?

The festival offers its audience a wide spectrum of modern movement theater with elements of classical pantomime, theater, dance, mask play, object theater, and acrobatics. Artists from France, Czech Republic, Russia, and Germany are part of the program.

A nonverbal fantastic fairy tale, conjured from paper, on a minimalist stage design, functioning primarily with the imagination of the audience.

Radim Vizváry needs no more than a large role of paper to unfold a world full of imagination, play, and adventure on stage. The mischievous narrator initially plays with the harmless paper, but soon he is engulfed by the pliable material. On his journey through the paper world, he is accompanied by the shy boy Paperboy, with whom he will discover that this world is also full of dangers and tension.
The hands of the experienced puppeteer and pantomime Radim Vizváry are capable of conjuring fantastic fairy tale scenes out of paper. He also invites children from the audience to join him on stage and reenact situations.

"LORDS of the ELEMENTS" is a unique presentation form - an instrumental musical based on a fantasy story of a legend from the time of the Trypillian civilization.
A strong semantic content, an interesting plot, high-quality arrangements, a highly professional and mega-virtuoso performance, an innovative presentation using 3D widgets and choreographed performances - all this made the show "LORDS of the ELEMENTS" an incredibly bright, visually impressive, emotionally thrilling cultural product.
At the same time, the audience immerses itself in the atmosphere of fantasy and legends of the Trypillian civilization, which form the basis of the plot, through the visualization of the legendary paintings of the world-renowned Ukrainian artist Viktor Kryzhanivsky, which are full of deep symbolism and sacred significance, as well as through the visualization of artifacts and symbols of the Trypillian civilization known from fairy tales and legends, and through the sounds of unique traditional Ukrainian folk instruments.

About the NAONI Ethno-Symphonic-Rock Orchestra.
The guardians of the musical seeds are the musicians of the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Ukraine, the NAONI Orchestra.
The orchestra was founded in 1969, and its first concert took place in 1970 at the National Opera of Ukraine. The foundation of NAONI consists of concert programs of instrumental folk music from all regions of Ukraine. The original sounds and unique timbres of the national instruments, of which there are about 50 in the orchestra, are unmistakable and make every NAONI concert unique in the world.
In recent years, the orchestra's repertoire has been expanded with a large number of world hits arranged for folk instruments, and concert programs have been successfully carried out with well-known Ukrainian artists such as ONUKA, VV, Druha Rika, Jamala, Ruslana, and Kozak System. Today, NAONI is a leading artistic collective in Ukraine. "Lords of the Elements" is an unforgettable musical experience for the audience that they will not forget.
The orchestra is the winner of the "Battle of the Bands" project in Ukraine and Moldova. The artistic director of the orchestra is the recipient of the Shevchenko National Prize, People's Artist of Ukraine, Professor Viktor Hutsal.

"The Blue Moods of Spain" – 30th Anniversary Tour

"The Blue Moods of Spain" from 1995 was the debut work of SPAIN, the band fronted by singer Josh Haden, son of the legendary jazz bassist Charlie Haden. The group, founded in 1993, quickly garnered a loyal fanbase captivated by their unique allure. They were distinctive, offering an intoxicating sound that combined melancholic intimate truths with intensely crafted, warm, embracing sounds: Slowcore was the genre, of which Spain was a significant representative. Josh Haden's sparsely instrumented slow-motion songs, blending folk rock, blues, and indie pop, won over a discerning audience. This music is addictive, entrancing, drawing one into its flow with heavy, intoxicating slow-motion sound dreams. It amplifies and prolongs moments of world-weariness in an almost genius manner.

To mark the 30th anniversary of "The Blue Moods of Spain," this genre-defining cult album is now being reissued by Rhino Records – as a remastered vinyl edition of the highest quality.
