The Rhine comes to the parking garage – the Monheimer Kulturwerke present Stephan Kaluza's "Rheinprojekt": the entire Rhine in one image in the new cultural refinery K714 parking garage.
For three quarters of a year, Stephan Kaluza walked along the Rhine and took a photo every 90 meters. The result: 13 full hard drives with over 50,000 photos. These were condensed by him into a cohesive image and are now presented to the public on an exhibition route of 800 meters, winding through the parking garage just as the Rhine carves its path. Only in the Kulturraffinerie-Parkhaus-K714 can one follow the approximately 1,700-kilometer-long course of the Rhine from its source in Switzerland to its mouth in the North Sea in the Netherlands. No one before Stephan Kaluza has photographed the entire Rhine bank without gaps. For the exhibition in Monheim am Rhein, Kaluza has created two oversized photorealistic paintings featuring sections of the Rhine. In another commissioned work by the Monheimer Kulturwerke, he painted the cultural refinery K714. Parking garages are usually for parking. The extraordinary projects of the Monheimer Kulturwerke, known beyond the city limits in unusual locations, continue here with the large exhibition "Das Rheinprojekt." This provides the new building, which stands out with its striking exterior as an iconic landmark at the Rheinpark, with an artistic complement from the inside.
Access to the exhibition is via Rheinparkallee.
Those who want to experience the section of the Rhine in Monheim am Rhein themselves can find numerous suggestions at
