Colors can be so different – quiet or loud, friendly or angry, bright or quite sassy. Queen Malwida knows them all. She rules over soft blue, wild red, and radiant yellow. But one day they get into a quarrel – and suddenly everything turns gray. Malwida loses her colors too and becomes sad. Only her tears bring the colors back – and with them, joy.

A poetic play of colors with music and few words – about feelings, disputes, and reconciliation, the power of tears, and the happiness when the world becomes colorful again.

Bandung (Indonesia) and Braunschweig have maintained a close collaboration since 1960 in the fields of education, culture, and technology. The BIFF takes the opportunity to showcase special films created by students from Bandung. The five works deal with personal experiences, politics, economics, and issues of cultural identity in the age of globalization.

The short film tour of the European Film Academy brings the best selection of short films nominated for the European Film Awards to a series of film festivals and cinemas across Europe and beyond. The tour began in November 2024 and ends at the end of 2025 with the five nominated short films.

¡OYE! We invite you to experience us! Salsa, Son, Merengue, Cumbia, and Bachata – This is the music with which ¡OYE! guarantees good vibes and full dance floors during live performances. The lineup featuring vocals, piano, bass, guitar, percussion, and brass brings the Latin American lifestyle to the stage in authentic arrangements. ¡OYE! consists of passionate musicians from Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Spain, and Germany.

Please note: The concert is partly seated to ensure enough space for dancing. There is explicitly no entitlement to a seat!

Moderator:
Muschda Sherzada is a moderator, education expert, and podcaster – her heart beats for all topics related to educational justice, culture, and inclusion. Born in Berlin in 1986 to Afghan parents, she now lives with her family in Hamburg. From 2012 to 2022, she hosted the "Tigerenten Club" (ARD/SWR) as well as other TV formats. As the host of "Matsch & Muse," the Instagram channel of NDR Kultur, she produces weekly content for culture-loving parents. In addition, she regularly moderates education policy conferences for various German foundations.

Following the award ceremony, the festival party will take place in the Great House of the Staatstheater, to which everyone is cordially invited.

The Kurz.Film.Tour 2025 stops in Braunschweig! The Braunschweig International Film Festival presents a selection of the award winners and nominees of the German Short Film Prize 2024. The awarded short works provide a glimpse into the diverse short film creation in Germany – they are controversial, critical, innovative, and international. They entertain, touch, and open our eyes to current issues with fresh ideas.

Animation, even for adults, must not be missing from any short film program. Again this year, we present the highlights of the Polish animation festival O!PLA – selected by the very best jury: the audience. This wild mix of techniques, styles, and emotions provides insight into the world of contemporary Polish animation.
