30 Years GO Music - Three Decades of Passion for Real Live Music
For three decades, GO MUSIC has stood for what live music is all about: encounter, risk, energy, and the magical moment that can only happen on stage. What once began as a vision is now one of the longest-lasting and most authentic live concert series in Germany—driven by the belief that music must above all be: alive.
At the center of this movement is initiator, host, and musical architect Martin Engelien—an established figure in the German music scene for many years and a true bass institution for many. As a passionate missionary of live music, he has pursued a clear goal for three decades: to create spaces where music is not reproduced, but reborn in the moment.
GO MUSIC is not a nostalgia project. GO MUSIC is a living music laboratory. Here, experience and curiosity meet, international class meets club atmosphere, virtuosity meets spontaneity. Without a safety net. Without rehearsals. But with maximum musical freedom.
In the past 30 years, over 300 musicians from around the world have participated in this extraordinary project—artists from diverse musical cultures and styles. Many of them come from internationally renowned bands and productions surrounding stars like Sting, Peter Gabriel, Miles Davis, Whitesnake, Foreigner, or Michael Jackson. This diversity has made GO MUSIC what it is today: a unique meeting point for musical personalities and creative encounters.
For the 30th anniversary, however, the focus is not only on looking back but especially forward. The current tour also embodies what GO MUSIC has always represented: extraordinary musicians, spontaneous musical magic, and concert evenings that happen only once.
A special highlight of the anniversary tour is the internationally celebrated singer Zeeteah Massiah. Born in Barbados, raised in London, and having spent many years in Germany, she captivates with an extraordinary voice and explosive stage energy. Zeeteah has already worked with world stars like Tom Jones and Robbie Williams and even achieved a number-one dance hit in the USA. Her musical spectrum ranges from rock and soul to jazz and reggae—and every concert with her is an experience full of passion and expressiveness.
On guitar, Ben Granfelt, a Finnish guitar legend and internationally sought-after musician, provides electrifying moments. With over 21 solo albums as well as his work with bands like Wishbone Ash and the Leningrad Cowboys, Granfelt has been part of the European guitar elite for years. His virtuosic playing combines blues, rock, and melodic intensity—a mix that perfectly fits the open GO MUSIC concept.
Providing the rhythmic energy is Carina Zimmert, one of the most exciting young talents in the German drumming scene. The musician from Mainz has already gained international experience, including at the International Jazz Festival Havana, and has worked with artists like Pat Appleton (DePhazz/Jazzkantine). As a member of the Landesjugendjazzorchester Rheinland-Pfalz, she has already shared the stage with Nils Landgren. Alongside numerous studio and TV productions, she has received several awards and is considered one of the most promising up-and-coming drummers of her generation.
Cherry Gehring
Singer, keyboardist, composer, comedian, and co-founder of Backblech. Touring for decades with Pur as a singer and keyboardist. Whether crossover with a large orchestra, swing and jazz with big band, rock at GoMusic, or party with Madchick of Soul. Cherry gives everything his personal touch with his unique voice. Echo Award winner 2016 with Pur "Best German-speaking Band."
Together with Martin Engelien, a musical encounter emerges that connects generations, cultures, and styles—entirely in the spirit of the GO MUSIC idea.
Especially in a time when music has often become digital and arbitrary, GO MUSIC sets a clear sign:
Live music is not an outdated model—it is more important than ever.
It connects people, creates real emotions, and reminds us why music has always been one of the strongest cultural forces in our society.
30 years of GO MUSIC means 30 years of lived stage moments.
And the journey continues.
GO MUSIC today stands more than ever for the vision of preserving, developing, and making live music accessible to new generations—direct, honest, and without hidden agendas.
Those who experience GO MUSIC experience music in the moment of its creation.
