Am 20. Juli um 11 Uhr lockt die nächste Jazztime zum zünftigem Jazz-Frühschoppen mit der Band „The Dixie Bones“ - diesmal auf die Ziegenwiese.
Die Dixie Bones aus Nürnberg präsentieren eine mitreißende Mischung aus Pop-Musik vergangener Tage. Ihr Repertoire umfasst sowohl beliebte Klassiker als auch selten gespielte Raritäten. Von New Orleans Jazz über Blues und Dixieland bis hin zu Swing. Die Band besteht aus hochkarätigen Musikern, die den alten Jazz und gute Laune Jazz auf professionellem Niveau zum Leben erwecken. Sie sind in zahlreichen Clubs und Festivals zu Hause und spielten auch schon zur Jazztime in Ansbach.
Die Jazztime-Reihe wird von der Stadt Ansbach in Kooperation mit der Fränkischen Landeszeitung und Radio 8 veranstaltet.

Immer wieder gern gesehen bei der Bachwoche: Ruedi Lutz und sein Ensemble aus St. Gallen. Zur Eröffnung der Bachwoche Ansbach 2025 spielen sie unter anderem Bachs Ansbach-Kantate BWV 209 und das Stück, mit dem die Bachwoche 1947 in Pommersfelden begann: „Weichet nur, betrübte Schatten“. Solistin ist die zu den führenden Interpretinnen barocker Vokalmusik zählende Sopranistin Miriam Feuersinger. Und auch ein „echter Lutz“ darf nicht fehlen!

Forty years ago, Yaara Tal and Andreas Groethuysen came together for an evening as a duo. What started as a provisional arrangement turned into an unprecedented success story. Both searched for music initially for piano four hands, more and more later for two pianos. Naturally, they found treasures in the salons of the 19th century, where pianos replaced orchestras and opera houses, providing the audience with contemporary music. Recordings, which the duo Yaara Tal & Andreas Groethuysen has since produced in abundance, did not yet exist. More and more, the duo's focus also turned to original compositions or arrangements that claim artistic merits compared to the original. The two charming musicians have repeatedly performed such works at the Bach Week in Ansbach. This time, they present music by Bach and Mozart – in the reflection of other admirers of Bach and Mozart.

Organs are found in churches. Most of the time, anyway. In Handel's London opera house, there was also an organ. In the theater, then! With its help, the maestro entertained the audience during the breaks. But Bach? Unfortunately, he did not write operas; however, he did incorporate the three movements of a work transmitted as a harpsichord concerto into two church cantatas. Here, the organ plays the solo part in the style of an organ concerto! It may be regrettable that Bach did not share Handel's preference for the form of the concerto grosso, just as Handel did not share Bach's penchant for experimenting with various solo instruments – in this concert, it will be an event!

Such a program has never existed at the Bach Week Ansbach. Organ music, played by strings. The idea came from the “Capricornus Consort Basel”. Its spiritual leader is the violinist Peter Barczi. “Organ music,” he laments, “is indeed played in many churches around the world during services or in concerts, but a large part of the regular concert audience rarely gets to hear it. I myself knew very little of these works.” He was overwhelmed by Bach’s “Pièce d’orgue,” the intricate outer movements, and the powerful five-part middle section. “I felt that we could show more facets of this music if we played it with our string instruments.” From this idea, a whole CD emerged, “New Concertos.”
It was important to Barczi not to try to imitate the organ sound: “The exciting thing about performing these transcriptions is how we handle the shaping of the individual voices. Since they are played by different people, who have, for example, more dynamic possibilities than an organ register, they gain their own character, liveliness, and passion.”

Bach on the piano – for decades, there has been hardly a better address for this than Angela Hewitt. Just recently, she revealed that as a young girl, she performed Bach's Goldberg Variations publicly for the first time, in March 1975, fifty years ago, in the cathedral of Ottawa, where her father was a church musician. Shortly thereafter, she won the Bach Prize in Washington D.C. with this piece. The Bach Week Ansbach sincerely congratulates her on this golden anniversary and fulfills Angela's wish to perform the Variations here this year. A second concert by the celebrated pianist two days later (Thursday, August 7, 11:00 AM) will then draw attention in a slightly longer matinee also in the Orangerie to that teaching piece with which young pianists continue to immerse themselves in Bach's art: counterpoint and the various expressions of baroque music, including captivating virtuosity.

THE discovery of the Bach Week Ansbach 2023: Solomon’s Knot. That ensemble that, like hardly any other, maintains contact with its audience by singing from memory. One more reason to invite Solomon’s Knot again. But the program also fits wonderfully into the Bach Week. Sharing the Bach’s Michaelis cantatas with the Windsbachers from the past weekend, they complement it with the spectacular piece by the great-uncle Johann Christoph and add with the funeral ode a moving, rarely performed piece from Bach’s pen. It was created for a “state act” (H.J. Schulze) in Leipzig on the occasion of the death of the Saxon Electress Christiane Eberhardine, who was originally from Bayreuth. Unlike her husband Augustus II “the Strong,” she remained loyal to the Protestant faith, which is why the people of Leipzig especially revered her. Bach uses a strikingly rich instrumentation. It invites one to conclude the program with the sixth Brandenburg Concerto, another remarkably instrumented courtly music.
