Free Electric Band - Rock in den Mai - Rock in den Mai
Whoever likes to reminisce about the music of the 70s, or who is too young for it but still enjoys the music, must listen to HR 1 (which is only partially successful due to the many 80s hits), or go on YouTube or dig out the old records from the closet.
If you want to experience this music live, you have to pay a lot for concerts with the 70s dinosaurs (and are usually disappointed because only one original band member is still on stage, the rest are hired musicians) - or you just go to SCHANZ for Rock in den Mai.
Because THE FREE ELECTRIC BAND plays only hits from January 1, 1970, to December 31, 1979 - but in a totally mixed way. Easy Listening, Hard Rock, Glam Rock, a little disco feeling; moreover, the men pull out the old stars again: giants like Uriah Heep, Thin Lizzy, Bad Company, T. Rex, Hot Chocolate, Bob Seeger, Led Zeppelin, CCR, Status Quo, Santana, early Genesis, Manfred Mann, BTO, Golden Earring, Jethro Tull, or Rod Stewart make a cheerful appearance.
The idea for this band comes from Achim "Schnalli" Schnall, the sound engineer from BAP, who hired Mob (drummer of the Rodgau Monotones), Rolf Bussalb (guitarist of Nigel Kennedy), Gero Steigerwald (Melibokus), the "age average deepener" Tobi Meuer, and SCHANZ veteran Fred Bauer.
THE FREE ELECTRIC BAND plays exactly the music that the musicians enjoy; they do it gladly and they do it well. In high spirits, the men stand on stage, sometimes reminiscing about their own memories, when they rode their mopeds to the festival hall to see Ten Years After. But don’t worry, you don’t have to come with a Hercules, you don’t have to wear collars up to your shoulders and platform boots up to your knees or bell-bottoms, because the whole party atmosphere comes through the sound.
The SCHANZ team is looking forward once again this year to a (like in previous years, so secure your tickets in time!) sold-out venue. And luckily, these busy musicians are all free just on April 30th…
Doors open at 7:00 PM.
