Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra
Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra have been cheerfully crossing genre boundaries for over a decade, blending Western swing, blues, country, rock & roll, soul, and more into their musical creation, yet they always sound predominantly like themselves.
Based in Newcastle but coming from all over the UK, the Tea Pads have released four albums prior to their new long player “The Party’s Over” and have toured across the UK and Europe, playing everywhere from Glastonbury and Cambridge Folk Festival to village halls and barns. They have supported well-known Americana bands such as Pokey LaFarge, The Dead South, and Sierra Ferrell, released music on the German label Migraine Records, and have appeared three times on Loose Ends on Radio 4.
On their four studio albums – “Money Isn’t Everything” from 2012, “Talk About The” from 2014, “Weather,” “Something Blue” from 2016, and “Soul Of My City” from 2019, the band has constantly added new flavors to their sound: In particular, Heron is a vinyl enthusiast who is always excited about a new passion – calypso or boogaloo or whatever the week brings – but most of all, he is enthusiastic about obscure blues and country, and this eclecticism and search for new sounds continuously flow into their songs.
In September 2022, their fifth studio album “The Party’s Over” was released, taking their signature blend of classic country and rhythm 'n' blues to a new level. After a decade of honing their craft, this might be their best album yet!
