Maschine intim - mit Uwe Hassbecker (Silly) - Lieder für Generationen
Of course, Dieter "Maschine" Birr has never done anything impersonal in his over 50-year music career, yet "Lieder für Generationen – Maschine Intim" is the most personal thing he has ever brought to the stage. Never before has the ECHO-awarded singer, guitarist, composer, and lyricist, who made music history with the Puhdys, been more approachable. Rarely is an audience member closer than at Maschine's "Lieder für Generationen".
By his side: Uwe Hassbecker, a Silly musician for over three decades and, for several years, also in Maschine's band. With his virtuosic playing on guitar, violin, and mandolin, he enriches the "Lieder für Generationen" like no other. It seems that what belongs together is finally coming together. Together, they swing to a new level of quality and engage in a musical exchange at the highest level. Although the music careers of Birr and Hassbecker differ, they share the same common denominators: passion and musical skill. The spectacular duo no longer needs to prove anything to anyone, yet the two have preserved the fighting spirit and energy of a newcomer.
And they draw from a wealth of experience: the 47-year success story of the Puhdys (in numbers: over 22 million records sold and more than 4500 concerts) is filled with cross-generational hits, most of which have achieved cult status. "Lieder für Generationen" spans the range from Puhdys classics to more recent songs from Maschine's Top 20 solo albums, including one or two cover songs. And not every surprise has been revealed yet.
The songs are stripped down to the essentials, yet nothing is missing. No note has the chance to weaken, to hide behind a drum break or a keyboard pad. In these seemingly stripped-back versions, the well-known songs unveil a whole new magic, familiar pieces surprise with new approaches and perspectives. As so often, less is sometimes more; the "Lieder für Generationen" promise magical concert evenings.
Musically, the journey continues in 2022: at the end of the year, an album with new songs will be released, for which Maschine is currently working in the studio. As a foretaste, the single "Bessere Tage" has already been released.
