Neujahrskonzert - Thomas Hoffmann & seine BRASS BAND BERLIN
At the performance of the BRASS BAND BERLIN, the audience can expect a jazzy, swinging, grooving, traditional-hued, Dixie-cheering, and classical-celebrating full-throttle hurricane of eleven exceptional musicians. The eleven music artists led by the inimitable bandleader and host Thomas Hoffmann unleash a musical fireworks display overflowing with speed, tempo, passion, precision, and a genre-spanning diversity, combined with a dash of comedy, humor, and improvisation, which should make unprepared spectators worry about their blood pressure.
No one is spared; one cannot escape the drive of these eleven. Hoffmann assembled the ensemble of wind players from all the major Berlin orchestras more than 30 years ago: as the Brass Band Berlin, they tour as a standalone high-pressure variant throughout the lands, showcasing their skills on their instruments according to all the rules of the art. The wind players are accompanied by a fabulous drummer and a guitarist (also with banjo), and of course - vocals are also taken care of.
It starts with “When the Saints...”, “Wagner in Dixieland” and the “Pink Panther” are further stops, and the Bolero will also be interpreted. Henry Mancini, Bert Kaempfert, Duke Ellington, Ravel, Strauss, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, to name just a few of the legends being honored.
The entire concert is a nonstop highlight! “If one wants to highlight something special, it is the incredible joy of playing of the musicians!” The furious concert culminates in a drum solo by Kai Schönburg and a clarinet solo by Tobias Schiller, where he celebrates a seemingly “ten cubic meters of air” during the endlessly long clarinet solo note in “Sing, Sing, Sing”.
