Christian Tetzlaff (Violin) & Matthias Kirschnereit (Piano)

Works by Brahms (Scherzo from the Sonata “FAE” & Sonata in D minor op. 108), Janácek (Violin Sonata), Dvorák (Sonatine in G major op. 100)

Christian Tetzlaff and Matthias Kirschnereit in duo – a dream team for chamber music! Both have been "at home" on all major stages of the world for decades, have established themselves as exceptional soloists without ever losing sight of chamber music – quite the opposite. They perform extensively in the most diverse formations and are each also active as artistic directors: Tetzlaff since 2023 for the "Spannungen" festival in Heimbach; Kirschnereit since 2012 for the "Gezeitenkonzerte" in East Frisia.
Both have been guests at the Kempener Monastery Concerts multiple times; now they are performing for the first time as a duo in the Pater Church. On the program: an early and a late work by the Hamburg-born in Vienna, Johannes Brahms, and music from Bohemia (Dvorák) and Moravia (Janácek).

Before all 6 concerts of the chamber music series, there will be a concert introduction lasting about 30 minutes at 7:00 PM in the Pater Church.
For the 2025 / 2026 season, the Düsseldorf clarinetist and music moderator Thomas Weißschnur has been engaged for this purpose. You can expect interesting background information and discussions about the concert program and the musicians.
