This year, women are in the spotlight – and so it is at the Supersession of the legendary Hamburg Blues Band. Joining them in their unique program "Women in Rock": The grand dame of blues and R’n’B, Inga Rumpf, and Heidi Solheim, the band leader of the Norwegian 70s blues, rock, and psychedelic cult band Pristine.
What a lineup: A true summit meeting of the St. Pauli blues rockers with the Hamburg rock shouter Gert Lange, Reggie Worthy (Ike & Tina Turner, Eric Burdon), Eddie Filipp (Sweet, Inga Rumpf, Clem Clempson Band), the guitar shooting star Krissy Matthews & the power women Inga Rumpf and Heidi Solheim (Pristine). For four decades, the Hamburg Blues Band has been touring through packed clubs and is among the best that the European blues scene has to offer. The "boys" stand for intense and cleverly arranged roots blues. Founded in 1982 by Hamburg singer Gert Lange and English saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith, the band has been touring with the stars of the scene for years: Jack Bruce, Chris Farlowe, Maggie Bell, Mike Harrison, Arthur Brown, and guitar heroes like Clem Clempson & Miller Anderson. In their midst, the guys place two great women: The blues, R&B, and soul queen Inga Rumpf, who was once described by Rolling Stone as "Germany's only rock, soul, and gospel singer of world-class level." The second woman in the group is Heidi Solheim, Norwegian singer and band leader of the 70s blues-rock-psychedelic cult band Pristine. The red-haired whirlwind with a unique voice – sometimes rough and raspy, then soulful or full-toned – leaves open mouths and excitement wherever she performs. Keyboardist Frank Tischer (Miller Anderson Band, Spencer Davis Group) will round off the all-star summit. A Supersession specially assembled for this evening – a chapter of blues & rock history, unique in this form. All together a guarantee for a musically high-caliber blues stage night.
