J. S. Bach "Weihnachtsoratorium", Kantaten 1,3,6
A traditional date in the calendar of the Stuttgart Boys' Choir is the performance of the Christmas Oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach. This year, in addition to a version for children the day before, Cantatas 1, 3, and 6 will be performed. The ecumenical boys' choir collegium iuvenum Stuttgart is supported by a non-profit association. It brings the tradition of Christian boys' choirs into the 21st century in a contemporary manner. A particular strength of the choir lies in its broad repertoire, which especially includes works of sacred choral music from the Renaissance to modern times. It is organized in the form of a choir school, conducts systematic youth training, but is not a boarding school choir.
With its excellent musical quality, the boys' choir contributes to the cultural life of the Stuttgart region and is regularly present at a national level as well as during annual concert tours internationally. The young choristers have been invited, among others, to France, Spain, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Poland, Czech Republic, Italy, as well as to Canada, Argentina, and the USA.
The rehearsal location of the choir and the seat of the professionally managed choir office is the Stuttgart Domsingschule. The choir leader since May 2022 is Sebastian Kunz.
