Irish Spring Festival 2025 - Festival of Irish Folk Music
For the Irish Spring Festival 2025, we have once again managed to put together a good mix of programs, as it is the aim of this festival to show the audience in this country, on one hand, what is happening in the innovative Irish music scene and, on the other hand, to give space to the various styles.
The renowned Northern Irish singer/songwriter duo Fil Campbell & Tom McFarland will mark the beginning of the event in 2025. Their songs sometimes provide a somewhat “quirky” perspective on life and invite the audience to sing along. They bring contemporary and traditional song material with them and skillfully engage with their audience.
4 Man Job is based in Glasgow and presents traditional Celtic music "unembellished" (they emphasize this). Ciaran Ryan (tenor banjo), Dylan Cairns-Hawarth (fiddle), Luc McNally (bouzouki, vocals), and Craig Baxter (bodhrán) are responsible for the sound experiences. Although they are still young, they already have extensive international stage experience and, it can be promised, they do an excellent job.
After so many men on stage, it is time for female musicians to demonstrate their skills to the audience again. And with Cuas, we have managed to acquire a band that brings this talent impressively to the stage. Méabh Ní Bheaglaoich (accordion, vocals), Nicole Ní Dhubhshláine (concertina, flute), Niamh Varian-Barry (violin, viola, vocals), and Kyle Macaulay (guitar, bouzouki), the only man in the band, primarily dedicate themselves to the diverse musical tradition of West Kerry. Exciting polkas and slides, thoughtful new compositions, and traditional songs are at the center when these four virtuosos, who are among the most promising from the "Emerald Isle" (all have already built impressive musical careers), stand together on stage.
We are also quite proud that we were able to win the excellent Lenka Fairy as a dancer. Lenka comes from the Czech Republic but has been living in Ireland for years. After her first introduction to Irish step dancing, Lenka quickly developed a love for this unique dance style and a great interest in Irish culture. She began to learn Irish dance and soon took part in international competitions. Eventually, she won the European Championships in Irish dance. Lenka has also participated six times in the World Championships in Irish dance and has won trophies at countless competitions in Ireland and other European countries.
