Ulrich Tukur & Die Rhythmus Boys - Tohuwabohu – Das neue Programm
30 years
Ulrich Tukur & Die Rhythmus Boys
Tohuwabohu! - the new program.
What chaos it was, what a fantastic mess, when the Rhythmus Boys first took to the concert stage thirty years ago and unleashed a hurricane of enthusiasm and total confusion!
None of the four mastered their instruments, but wit, cultivated lack of discipline, and excellent appearances compensated for all musical deficits.
That has changed over the years. In the meantime, the gentlemen sing and play far better than they look; what was once a lack of discipline has become madness and cheerful disorder, and thus an evening with the Rhythmus Boys resembles the last tumultuous concert in a dilapidated, condemned variety theater.
“Tohuwabohu!” symbolizes the long, successful journey that Ulrich Tukur and the Rhythmus Boys have made, making them unique in the history of popular music. What would life be without the weightless music of this quartet, which for almost a lifetime has understood how to transform darkness into light, hardship into optimism, and sadness into the best of moods?
Join us for a walk in dance steps of cheerful rhythms, experience a fireworks display of enchanting melodies that dissolve the paralyzing contradictions of our lives into grace and harmony in colorful explosions. Don’t miss what could permanently change your existence: distinguished dance music, refined refrains, top-quality instruments, elegant attire, and good manners. German-language and international repertoire. Alongside world-class Italian and French hits, spectacular new arrangements will take your breath away, and you will tell yourself: up until now, I have only existed, but now I live!
Whoever wants to escape the chaos of the world should immerse themselves in the fantastic Tohuwabohu that Europe’s most beautiful dance band has prepared especially for you.
Ulrich Tukur (vocals, piano, accordion), Ulrich Mayer (guitar, ukulele, vocals), Günter Märtens (double bass, vocals, dance), and Kalle Mews (drums, vocals, sounds) always expect their audience to arrive well-groomed and elegantly dressed. Their promise goes far beyond an elegant arrangement of melodious notes.
Original quote from Tukur: “The decorative physical appearance of us four sound and vibration producers greatly enhances an acoustic experience that represents a paradigm shift in the world of sophisticated entertainment music, such as we have not seen since the displacement of the bombardons by the double bass.”
“Anyone who doesn't feel good after such a concert probably has no moods at all.”
Süddeutsche Zeitung Online
“Tukur loves the absurd, that is his métier; here he is at home. The artificially amateurishly playing and fabulously singing quartet creates the best of musical moods. Tukur and the Boys present themselves as comic figures. This mixture of nonsense, silliness, and slapstick fits like a glove with the repressed entertainment deficit of the audience.” - Rheinische Post
“Tukur's formidable dance band can simply do everything: swing, jazz, and even rock. In original arrangements, they reinterpret classics or present cheeky originals. With a mischievous smile, Tukur tells supposed anecdotes from his life. These turn into fantastic little arabesques full of poetry and double meanings, always very close to Baron Munchausen. In the end, there are standing ovations.”
Münchner Merkur
“Delightfully old-fashioned and exuberant. Ulrich Tukur has a heart for the dance music of the 1920s to 1940s. Add a few charmingly spun ideas and the Rhythmus Boys, and the evening becomes a grand pleasure.” - Bonner Generalanzeiger
“Alongside the casual music, which Tukur skillfully garnishes with champagne-sparkling melodic arcs, it’s his humorous introductions between indulgent nonsense and quite interesting information. A musical menu that surprised with infectious freshness.” - WAZ
“The confusion is the program here, as Tukur celebrates, with his three congenial musical companions, the Rhythmus Boys, etudes of intelligent nonsense. Thus, the four navigate through the history of dance music with swing, foxtrot, and rock’n’roll sounds. High and low encounter each other calculatedly and artistically, poems and flat jokes rapidly alternate. Tukur is amused, his conference oscillates between exalted and eccentric.” - Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung
