Aurel Dawidiuk performs works by Schubert and Widmann in the first C. Bechstein piano evening of the year at the Konzerthaus Berlin.

Aurel Dawidiuk is considered one of the most outstanding and versatile musicians of his generation. As a pianist, organist, and harpsichordist, he performs with numerous orchestras. He is a 1st prize winner of many music competitions, such as the Schumann Competition Zwickau, The London Organ Competition, the International Young Organist Competition Moscow, and the prestigious TONALi19 Piano Competition in Hamburg. He has also received special prizes and scholarships from the Jürgen Ponto Foundation, the German Music Foundation, the Carl Bechstein Foundation, the Youth Musiziert Niedersachsen Foundation, and the Mozart Society Dortmund. In 2022, he won the German Music Competition in the organ category, and in 2023, he received the 1st prize in the category "Conducting from the Piano," as well as two special prizes and the Audience Prize at the International Hans von Bülow Competition in Meiningen. He was also awarded the Neeme Järvi Prize by the Gstaad Conducting Academy and the Ernst von Schuch Conducting Prize. Since 2024, Aurel Dawidiuk has been the Associate Conductor at the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest in Amsterdam.

Multiphonic Quartet

Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Joseph Haydn, Astor Piazzolla, Pedro Iturralde, and others

The Multiphonic Quartet is a young saxophone quartet from Düsseldorf. Its name derives from a special playing technique where multiple tones sound simultaneously on a wind instrument. For the four musicians of the Multiphonic Quartet, this technique represents the diverse creative and stylistically diverse possibilities that a formation with four different saxophones offers. Silas Kurth, Olivia Nosseck, Katrin Ticheloven, and Luca Winkmann came together a few years ago at the Krefeld Music School and have won numerous first prizes at competitions both nationally and internationally. They completed their artistic training at the Robert Schumann University of Düsseldorf with Andreas and Martin Hilner, and at the University of Music and Dance Cologne with Prof. Daniel Gauthier and Sebastian Pottmeier.

The ensemble processes its own musical vision of chamber music influences paired with jazz hints, which are based on the compositions of the Kassel bassist Sven Krug. The pieces and compositions thrive on quirky themes full of ironic folklore, can exude a bittersweet sentimentality, and occasionally transform into bright experiments. Through the various sound possibilities of the individual instruments, the trio repeatedly forms unusual and interesting constellations between composition and improvisation. The project was created with the support of a scholarship from the German Music Council in 2022.

Expressive, dynamic, impressive: For over a decade, the Aris Quartet has been at home on international stages. With its unmistakable tonal language, it has long belonged to the top ranks of chamber music.

Founded in 2009 in Frankfurt am Main, the Aris Quartet, whose most important mentor is Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), continues to perform in the original lineup. The success of the ensemble is no coincidence: With numerous first prizes at renowned competitions, the quartet quickly achieved international breakthrough. The musicians were also awarded as "ECHO Rising Stars" by the European Concert Hall Organisation, were named "New Generation Artists" by the BBC, and won five prizes at the International Music Competition of the ARD in Munich. In addition to regular appearances on radio and TV, the Aris Quartet has already released several album productions that were highly praised by the specialist press.
