PHILIPP POISEL - Adventskonzert 2025
An Advent concert three weeks before the 1st Advent? That is only possible if you have so many concerts in so many cities with such a large audience that they simply can't be accommodated in four Advent weeks. Playing a 5,000-capacity hall once a week or seven times a week in places designed to create intimacy? For Philipp Poisel, the answer is clear:
His pre-Christmas stage is preparing - for the fourth year already - again in his very personal style: solo, acoustic, and close to those who listen to him. "It's just beautiful that these concerts continue," he says, "the festive atmosphere, the many encounters, the calm, intimate mood, these concerts are a gift for me every time."
Why? "Because sometimes less is more," he says, "and at these concerts, it's less about 'higher, faster, further' and more about 'deeper, slower, closer'. When we experience that in the concerts, I am happy."
And those who listen to him are too. There is a kind of sense of community that develops this way, "you feel especially connected in these moments," as the artist himself puts it. An Advent mood that lifts and lingers three weeks before Advent...
In essence, Philipp Poisel, the songwriter, has always been an Advent songwriter; he has always given a voice to longing and an attitude, namely that of expectation. He has positioned himself in life in such a way that love comes to him like the angels to the shepherds, the star to the stable, the child to the world. Where do the heavens begin, when does Advent start? Poisel's answer - it could also be Herbert Grönemeyer's, since he was the one who signed Poisel to his label and sent him out into the world - Poisel's answer: Advent begins where intimacy arises.
