Reggatta de Blanc - The Police- und Sting-Tributeband
When Reggatta de Blanc formed as a tribute band to THE POLICE in 1988, no one could foresee that there would be someone in this world whose voice not only resembles that of Police frontman Sting, but is almost identical. "Pure, but beautiful coincidence," Reggatta singer Michael Griese thought during his first rehearsal with his guys in April '88. For Griese, it remains a special, valuable gift to this day. Since then, several years have passed, over 1,500 concerts played in all clubs and open-air venues across the country and abroad, showcasing everything that Sting has put to paper over the last 40 years. One must not forget that the former teacher from northern England continued on as a solo artist after his time with The Police from 1985, releasing countless hits. There are few artists in this world with such a comparable success story and who have gifted the world with so many hits. The success story of The Police began in 1978 with the classic "Roxanne," followed by, to name just a few, "So Lonely," "Message in a Bottle," as well as "Don't Stand So Close to Me" and "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic," culminating in their last album "Synchronicity" with Sting's most successful work "Every Breath You Take." Reggatta de Blanc did everything right when they founded their The Police tribute band in the spring of 1988 at a very young age. And here, the emphasis should be on TRIBUTE BAND, as for 17 years, the sound, performance, and stage show of the formerly most successful rock trio of the 80s have been honed and nearly perfected, until, due to personnel changes in the band, they ventured into the big hits from Sting's solo period (which is still ongoing): "Set Them Free," "Englishman in New York," "Fragile," "Fields of Gold," "Desert Rose," "Can't Stop Thinking About You," and "Don't Make Me Wait" are just a few that the multiple Grammy and Brit Award winner composed after his Police era and released in the course of 12 studio and 4 live albums. The current lineup of Reggatta promises high-caliber quality on the instruments: Tom Quast (guitar), Jonas Wilms/Christopher Hafer (drums), Markus Wentz (keyboards), Dimitri Telmanov (trumpet), Wim Wollner (saxophone), as well as Maja Griese and Melina Kohler (backing vocals). This not only brings musical versatility to the band but also in terms of lineup: whether it's the original trio that brings the early Police back to the stage, or various Sting solo configurations with backing vocalists and a brass section – Reggatta de Blanc manages to bring all live configurations from the last 40 years of The Police and Sting to the stage in an original and detail-oriented manner. In December 2023, Reggatta de Blanc concluded their remarkable 35-year anniversary tour! Far more than 1,500 concerts of a special kind have been staged. The inexhaustible live repertoire of The Police and Sting guarantees that Reggatta's shows have never repeated since the beginning. Every concert is different. The various live versions interpreted stem from the legendary The Police - Rockpalast concert from 1981, Sting's Symphonic Tour in 2010, the famous MTV Unplugged concert (1992), Sting's Oslo concert from 1994, or his legendary live concert in Tuscany in the garden of his winery on September 11, 2001. You won't hear studio versions of the songs from Reggatta; they play live and 1000% close to the original – just as you recognize from The Police and Sting concerts in full breadth available on the internet. Now you can finally experience it LIVE!
