Das kunstseidene Mädchen - Chanson-Musical nach dem gleichnamigen Roman von Irmgard Keun
Music by Rainer Bielfeldt
Book and lyrics by Carsten Golbeck
Emotional rollercoaster at the highest level!
"To become a shining star," that is Doris' declared goal. She packs her bags – including a stolen fur coat – and leaves the Rhineland to seek her fortune in Berlin in the early 1930s. Becoming an actress, living in luxury, that is what she dreams of. The reality, however, is far less glamorous. Struggling with unemployment, she earns her money through tricks and gets into different relationships with wealthy men that never last long. Until she meets Ernst, an employee who lets her live with him without expecting anything in return. Everything seems to be leading towards a happy ending, if it weren't for Ernst's ex-wife, whom he still holds dear...
The chanson-musical "Das kunstseidene Mädchen" is based on the novel of the same name by Irmgard Keun from 1932. The version by Bielfeldt and Golbeck is the first musical adaptation of the story and was premiered in 2014 at the Renaissance Theater in Berlin. You will have the opportunity to admire Katharina Wollmann in an exceptional solo evening and allow yourself to be drawn into the swamp – and glamour – of Berlin in the 1930s.
