Palace of Ash and Rain
ONCE WE WERE ISLANDS
Don’t you know
They’re talking about a revolution?
Yes! You can see it through the trees. A tower, a wall, a path through the leaves. A place outside of time.
Everyone is welcome in the palace – but you must leave everything behind: memories, your old life, even your name. For your new name, you can choose a color: Pink, Turquoise, Fuchsia, Sage. There are rooms for sleeping, workshops, a clinic, and gardens. There’s karaoke, sung in a completely new language. A lonely dance that we perform once a year.
In this new live performance, the queer performance collective ONCE WE WERE ISLANDS attempts to envision a queer utopia: post-capitalist, post-traumatic, post-addictive, post-sad, post-joyful – a After the chaos that was before.
Don’t you know you better run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run …
