Abschlusskonzert 23. Internationale A-cappella-Woche Hannover
The final concert is back in the Kuppelsaal! And the program couldn't be more diverse: Loop artist meets Baroque music meets concentrated British vocal power meets delicate vocal pop. Charming moderation by Arndt Schmöle as always.
baff! (GER)
baff! astonishes and surprises. baff! moves. baff! wants to reflect, but also to switch off. baff! makes music. Pop music. Music that doesn't let go. With German lyrics, demanding, but with catchy arrangements and melodies on current yet timeless topics. Sometimes fragile and tender. Then again powerful, profound, direct. The music of baff! has a unique liveliness. On and off stage, the four musicians Florentine Faber, Lilly Ketelsen, Jonathan Mummert, and Maximilian Kleinert from Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden, and Halle are good friends, strong-charactered singers, and absolutely themselves.
AXIOM (GB)
They are a 12-member a cappella group from the United Kingdom, and their name says it all! “Axioms” are fundamental rules, and AXIOM aims to break these with impressive a cappella performances. Their repertoire includes contemporary pop, rock, and soul songs – but combined with powerful vocal harmonies and modern beatbox techniques. Since their founding in 2021, AXIOM has won the Open A Cappella competition in the UK, participated in the Solevoci Festival in Italy, premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and delivered a headline show in London. Just recently, the band received several awards at the prestigious a cappella competition vokal.total in Graz.
Ensemble Polyharmonique (GER / BEL)
The vocal music of the Renaissance and Baroque eras forms the core repertoire of the Ensemble Polyharmonique, a collective of singers from Europe's diverse early music scene. Taking into account historical performance practices, the group unites ideas from the German and Franco-Flemish singing culture into lively, poetic interpretations. The basic lineup consists of six soloists. They perform a cappella or accompanied by the Basso Continuo – and depending on the program, sometimes as a quartet or as an ensemble of up to 16 singers.
Martin O. (CH)
In his first program “Stimmentänzer,” he has created his own art form using only his voice and the unique symphonium looping device, which has repeatedly received awards. Now he returns and conjures up a cheerful acoustic endless loop of highlights and gems from the last 16 years, along with a kaleidoscope of brand new numbers in the audience. Look forward to a varied musical looping experience full of stories in an entertaining way, sprinkled with both subtle and thought-provoking nuances. Everything live, everything real, and unique like Martin O. himself.
Since 2001, the International A-cappella Week Hanover has enriched the cultural life in the capital of Lower Saxony. For over 20 years, the festival has provided time to enjoy, take a break, and spend quality time with good friends. Furthermore, it visibly influences the choral scene in Hanover and the region: artists who have been guests inspire the songs, arrangements, and repertoire of local choirs. And even more: every year, workshops, masterclasses, and open singing sessions are part of the festival, providing opportunities for exchange. Regardless of musical genre, regardless of leading artists – at the 23rd International A-cappella Week Hanover, personal memories as well as artistic collaborations will be created that last. Be there: from May 3rd to 11th, 2025!
