UND SINGT EWIGE LIEDER - Long Lasting Songs
“Let us talk about this life that winds before us like an eel speared in the back of the head and at the tip of its tail.” Lyrics are something that has little to do with life. At least, that is a widely held cliché. Here, however, the poems of Anna Zepnick come to life, they gain a sensual garment and are presented a little differently each evening. For here, two actors perform with a musician at the piano and percussion, with their voices and bodies, each interacting with one another. This is poetry, the full life, humor, fear, or even a wishful dream. Poems crumble, fail, are sometimes fairy-tale-like and sometimes joyous: they are like life.
UND SINGT EWIGE LIEDER is the stage adaptation of the eponymous poetry audiobook by Anna Zepnick. It addresses facets of life known to every person: being a child, love in its beauty and torment, the fear of aging, the breakdown of relationships or families, remembering, and being embedded in nature, surroundings, and society. The poems become physically tangible through their scenic presentation, rising from the paper, crawling out of the speakers, becoming accessible and attacking. There will also be improvisation, which means each evening will have its own unique face.
