Since 2014, students from the teaching department of the Hochschule für Musik and the
Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden have been collaboratively creating a music theater project. In
the anniversary year 2024, a premiere will take the stage of the Labortheater, set on the
ocean floor. In the darkness of the deep sea, a crab leads its simple life. It consists of eating and
not getting eaten as much as possible. An old shell announces the visit of aliens. This mainly
interests the curious squid. Suddenly, everything changes – the sea creatures are confronted
with a sense they previously knew nothing about: they see. This deep sea opera tells the story of
dealing with light in the dark.
