We move in the net like fish in water. The offer is enormous. Tempting apps – is there a catch? At the end of the long development towards upright walking stands the human as a smartphone user. Bent over his smartphone, which has become our showcase to the world. And we are active ourselves. With clever information or a cat video, one can gain attention. Or harvest a shitstorm. Do we have it in our hands? Or does it have us in its grip?
The daily shower is Arnulf Rating's always-current reaction to the daily showers in the times of general dumbing down. Together with his magnificent characters Sister Hedwig and Dr. Mabuse, he decides between people, viruses, mutations. He knows: The torch of enlightenment can also be a smoke bomb. In this world, one survives only with humor. Because that is known to be the button we can turn before our collar bursts. With tempo and high entertainment value, one of the oldest sharp tongues in the country shines here. The last of the legendary 3 Tornados standing on stage. His standard is the same as it was then with the Tornados. Entertainment with stance. Born in 1951 in Mülheim, has lived in Berlin since 1972; has been writing cabaret history since 1977 with the “3 Tornados,” after the reunification from 1990 with the “Imperial Polterabend” and in the new millennium with the annual “Political Ash Wednesday Berlin.”
In addition to numerous cabaret programs, he works as an organizer (International Word Art Festival “Mouth Heroes”) among others of revue programs like “The Blue Monday.” He is also active online with the “daily shower.”
However, his passion lies in live action on stage. When he throws up the projection, opens the suitcase full of newspapers, and fires his salvos of crazy word cascades into the audience, it is clear: The oldest rating agency in Germany is striking again mercilessly.
Arnulf Rating is married and has three adult children.
