Dornröschen - Royal Classical Ballet - Dornröschen mit Märchenerzählerin
Dornröschen - pure classical fairy tale ballet!
For more than 100 years, the ballet classic has delighted young and old alike. With grace, beauty, and elegance, with incredible lightness and the highest technical precision, the audience is transported into a fairy tale world.
Graceful fairy godmothers, the beautiful Princess Aurora, who has fallen into a hundred-year sleep in an enchanted thorn forest, Little Red Riding Hood with the wolf, the Booted Cat, the Blue Bird – in unmatched graceful choreography, the fantastical beings of the fairy tale world conquer the stage in Tchaikovsky's masterpiece.
The ballet "Dornröschen" is considered the most successful of all ballets from the great tsarist era. Tchaikovsky regarded "Dornröschen" as his best ballet. The collaboration of two such extraordinarily creative forces, choreographer Marius Petipa and composer Peter I. Tchaikovsky, has produced a ballet that displays a complete concordance in all parts, as had not been observed on Russian stages for a long time.
The story takes the audience into the realm of magic, where good and beautiful things reign, and where one wishes to return to again and again, even as an adult. The fascinating splendor of the set and 300 costumes, the fairy tale plot, the music, and the dance complete the vital work full of romance and make the ballet performance a true celebration.
Regarding the plot... For the baptism of Princess Aurora, fairies are invited who bestow all imaginable good qualities upon their godchild. Only the evil fairy Carabosse has not received an invitation and is enraged: Aurora will prick herself on a spindle and fall dead on her 16th birthday. The Lilac Fairy intervenes, who fortunately has not yet pronounced her good wish: she succeeds in softening the curse so that the child will not die but instead will fall into a deep, long sleep that can only be awakened by the kiss of true love. All measures taken in the kingdom to protect the child prove futile, as it happens exactly as foretold: the prick, the sleep, but also the awakening, brought about by the redeeming kiss...
“…Dances of incredible lightness and highest technical precision convincingly convey a small story for which there is hardly a corresponding reality, and this is perhaps the true secret of classical ballet…”
For young and old, it is a welcome opportunity to experience the unique perfection of ballet and effortlessly find access to the magical world of ballet.
Each scene is vividly illustrated through narration, so even the youngest in the audience can follow the danced scenes and the ballet plot.
