echoes - performing the music of Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd – Giants of Progressive and Art Rock, architects of massive magical sound structures with a unique musical aesthetic, masters of bombastic live shows - a monolith in the flow of rock history, shaping the style for generations of musicians and bands. Pink Floyd are one of the greatest bands of all time and have long since secured their place in the rock Olympus. The story of the originals has been told with the last album "The Endless River" from 2014. It was the worthy conclusion of a gigantic musical body of work, which represents a legacy for generations. The Pink Floyd tribute band echoes, however, continues this legendary legacy. They will present on 22.02.2025 at the Pumpwerk in a completely renewed, fresh lineup. The two band founders continue to guarantee consistency and the highest level, successfully steering the Pink Floyd tribute flagship echoes for now three decades (!) and over 500 concerts in twelve countries. Unique across Europe. Particularly exciting: For the guitar part of David Gilmour, they have managed to recruit none other than the exceptional German guitarist Dennis Hormes. Fans of echoes have already been treated to samples of his fantastic talent in recent years when he participated as a guest musician. It is absolutely fascinating how he interprets the work of David Gilmour in a new and highly virtuosic manner - from now on, however, no longer as a guest, but as a new central star in the floydian sound worlds of echoes. Dennis Hormes brings in abilities that originally distinguished Pink Floyd and may have been somewhat lost or neglected in the end: an open mind, creativity, and a joy for improvisation - all without neglecting the complexity, grandeur, and spirit of Pink Floyd. echoes take their audience on a highly emotional journey to the dark side of the moon, from "Ummagumma" to "Meddle", "Dark Side of the Moon", "Wish You Were Here", "Animals", and "The Wall", up to the post-Waters era. In addition to a comprehensive "Best of Pink Floyd", some nearly forgotten works are also heard again. And yet, an echoes concert is not a nostalgia trip. Rather, the band shows with immense joy of playing, attention to detail, powerful sound, and great respect for the original that the complex Pink Floyd epics are still just as fascinating and relevant today as at the time of their creation - timeless indeed. The press echoes have correspondingly fallen in recent years: "It’s a spectacle," writes the Süddeutsche Zeitung. A "Monumental Concert" is certified by the Hanauer Anzeiger, "Simply too beautiful," finds the WAZ and even "Almost eerie," notes the Allgäuer Zeitung. "Echoes proved that they are chosen," summarizes the GNZ, while Main Echo celebrates "The copy as a total work of art." The conclusion of the Rheinpfalz is almost euphoric: "You can hardly do it better. Echoes have met all expectations and paid tribute to their heroes in a way that could not be more varied, daring, and perfect." A claim that the new lineup of echoes will also fulfill. The audience can therefore look forward to a - in the truest sense of the word - atmospheric and spectacular concert event in floydian atmosphere!
