Who would have thought that a single letter could cause so much chaos…?! “You have been living in Germany for a long time - do you want to become a German citizen?” What a question - complete nonsense! “I had never asked myself that question. I first took a close look at the letter because I learned: You have to be careful in Germany since Gutenberg invented the fine print in the 15th century.
Maybe it says, being German is free for the first year, but then…” But nothing, no fine print, no advertising, instead official mail. “I thought to myself: Becoming German - why not? But at the same time: Why actually? You have to know, being French AND German is a contradiction in itself: Germans are disciplined, punctual, and efficient - the French are… normal!” But at ALFONS, suddenly nothing is normal anymore: Just a moment ago, one was a successful roving reporter in a tracksuit with a fluffy microphone, and then everything is suddenly thrown out of balance…
In his new program, ALFONS tells the story of his German becoming, from the magical, sunny childhood days in France to the disturbingly velvety gray of German offices. And ALFONS does not come alone, but in musical accompaniment: Surrounded by piano sounds, his story repeatedly turns into a musical pas de deux, sometimes humorous, sometimes reflective, often completely surprising.
“ALFONS - Now even more German” is a wonderful mélange of theater and cabaret - and at the same time much more than the sum of these ingredients. An evening with lasting effects: warmth in the heart - and a hangover in the laughing muscles. Just the way you can only experience it with ALFONS.
