Al Capone – Bösewicht wider Willen – eine Gangsterrevue
Chicago 1929, Al Capone returns to his favorite club, "Green Mill," in Chicago after his first prison sentence. A "speakeasy," as Prohibition reigns throughout America, opening up a vast new business opportunity for organized crime. In addition to numerous bordellos, countless betting parlors, and casinos, Capone firmly controls Chicago with his gangs. Bribery of the police and city administration, ruthless elimination of opponents - he is a cold-blooded businessman yet a devout Catholic, caring family man, a colorful personality. How did this son of Italian immigrants from one of the poorest neighborhoods in New York rise to the top of organized crime, becoming one of the wealthiest and most influential men in America? This revue delves into this question, partly documentary, partly fictional, with exciting and comical scenes, enriched with slapstick reminiscent of old silent films, accompanied by a live band. There are high-speed chases, speedy charleston dances, brutal gangsters, charming prostitutes, and then there is Mama - Theresina Capone, who gave birth to her Alphonse in Brooklyn in 1899. Could she be the real boss? Here, the ensemble of the Theater Rote Bühne once again demonstrates superbly how jazz music, dance, acting, and comedy come together to create one of the most entertaining revues that this city has to offer.
