Avanti! Avanti!
The director and artistic director Thomas Rohmer has created a genre mix of musical, parody, and spoof from the well-known stage play "Avanti! Avanti!" by Samuel Taylor, which was already a big screen success 50 years ago in the film adaptation by Billy Wilder with Jack Lemmon. The lively show production with TV and musical stars like Stefanie Hertel, Stuart Sumner, and Alexander Milz thrives on wit, crazy plot twists, and numerous references. Perfectly fitting hits from the 1960s underscore a turbulent and colorful depiction of Rome with plenty of wit and Italian zest for life.
The American businessman Alexander “Sandy” Ben Clairborn wants to bring his father's body, who died in a car accident, back to Rome with his wife. In the process, he meets the lively Alison Ames (Stefanie Hertel), who in turn wants to repatriate her deceased mother to London. The problem: in chaotic Italy, both bodies have disappeared. After it is revealed that Sandy's father died with Alison's mother, his secret lover, and Italian sexy assistant Baldo interferes, chaos ensues.
