Pippo Pollina - Solo in Concerto
Pippo Pollina, the versatile Sicilian musician, has been one of the most creative artists in the European singer-songwriter scene for over thirty years. Countless record productions, international tours, prestigious collaborations give him a special status, which he has earned through consistency and dedication both in the studio and live on stage.
Now at 60, Pippo Pollina feels the need to celebrate this milestone in his own way with a solo concert in an intimate setting: Alone on stage, with only his guitar or sitting at the piano with his expressive voice, which has gained even more intensity with increasing maturity.
The program "Solo in concerto" represents a kind of retrospective of songs, stories, and films of a truly extraordinary career. From Pollina's debut in Sicily with the folk music of Agricantus to his anti-Mafia activism as a journalist in the emerging movement against the Cosa Nostra in Palermo. From bidding farewell to his homeland Italy for a aimless world tour, through street music and the first concerts to the many artistic encounters that changed his life and gave rise to some international musical collaborations: with Swiss artists like Linard Bardill, Patent Ochsner, and Endo Anaconda of Stiller Has, with German songwriters like Konstantin Wecker, Schmidbauer & Kälberer. Collaborations with legendary Italian musicians Franco Battiato, Giorgio Conte, Etta Scollo, Nada, Davide Van De Sfroos, or Eugenio Finardi, with French chansonnier Georges Moustaki, with Norwegian jazz singer Rebekka Bakken, as well as with Chilean group Inti-Illimani and many more.
Pippo Pollina – Solo in Concert. The artist alone on stage. Authentic and intimate. Face to face. With his own songs and his impressive voice. With his own memories and stories of a life full of diverse experiences. A concert for all those who love Italian songwriting, as well as for those who have already had the pleasure of experiencing Pippo Pollina's art. An art that sensitively but intensely wanders between poetry, music, and civil courage.
