Hunters of Light 2 – Passion Nature Photography
Ten years after their first presentation, the "boy group of nature photography" returns to the stage with a new show: The Hunters of Light show us things and places around the world that most of us would likely never see otherwise. They share their adventures, motivations, as well as their personal work and approach. Their images are ambassadors of the beauty of our planet and a presentation highlight in the German-speaking region.
The Hunters of Light, Ingo Arndt, David Hettich, Markus Mauthe, and Bernd Römmelt, are not only renowned, internationally multi-award-winning photographers and excellent observers, but also researchers and guardians of nature. Curiously, they delve into the world of animals and plants, study complex ecosystems, behaviors, and changes. They collaborate with scientists, trackers, and indigenous people. Ten years ago, they successfully presented their first joint photo book and presentation, and now they are back with new spectacular shots, discoveries, and stories.
Ingo Arndt's great passion is animal photography. He dedicates himself to pumas in Patagonia as devotedly as to honeybees in Central Europe. David Hettich loves the oceans. With ease, he reveals the deepest secrets of the underwater world. His impressions from the microcosm of coral reefs immerse us in a magical world full of vibrant colors and fascinating forms. Markus Mauthe has devoted his life to nature conservation, especially focusing on the rainforest and the rights of indigenous peoples. In his images, he captures the uniqueness of the last indigenous cultures before they may vanish forever. Landscape photographer Bernd Römmelt is drawn to the far north and the mountains. He has masterfully photographed the natural wonders of the Alps as well as the northern lights over the Arctic.
In their new, magnificent presentation, the Hunters of Light showcase the diversity of life. They remind us that we are all part of a larger whole and that each of us can play a role in preserving the beauty of our planet.
The Photographers:
Ingo Arndt is one of the world's outstanding nature photographers. His images appear in magazines like National Geographic, GEO, Stern, or BBC Wildlife and are marketed at art fairs worldwide. He has received numerous awards, including two World Press Photo Awards, one of them for his photos of wild pumas in Patagonia. His book "Honeybees - Mysterious Forest Dwellers" is an international bestseller translated into many languages.
David Hettich has been reporting as an ambassador of the seas on his encounters with sharks, dolphins, and devil rays for years. He discovered his passion for water at the tender age of thirteen; today, his logbook records over 2500 exciting dives worldwide. With his cameras, he regularly gets up close with the largest inhabitants of the seas, but in recent years, he has also explored the world of small and tiny sea creatures that he skillfully brings to life on huge canvases.
Markus Mauthe is a photographer, producer, and activist. He works in the habitats of our planet, dedicated to their preservation and peaceful coexistence of all people. He is the managing director of Mauthe-Media GmbH, which focuses on producing documentaries addressing social and ecological issues. He is also a long-time ambassador for Greenpeace on forest and climate protection issues. He lives with his family on the cocoa coast in the Brazilian state of Bahia.
Bernd Römmelt has worked as a freelance photographer and travel journalist since 2001. His work focuses on the Alps and the far north. The renowned author has already published over thirty photo books. Some of his images have been recognized at the world's most important and prestigious nature photography competition, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
