CAVEMAN - Du sammeln - Ich jagen!
The American Rob Becker wrote CAVEMAN, the most successful solo piece in the history of Broadway. After CAVEMAN was celebrated by a million-strong audience in the United States, the modern caveman is now achieving worldwide success. Even here, the cult comedy, in the translation by Kristian Bader and directed by Esther Schweins, delights everyone who is in a relationship, has been, or wants to be. Because CAVEMAN offers a very unique perspective on the relationship between men and women.
Kicked out by his wife, Tom, the likable hero in the jungle of relationships, meets his ancestor from the Stone Age in the "magical underwear circle," who shares with him millennia-old wisdom: Men are hunters and women are gatherers. A fact that human evolution has not managed to change to this day. What the average man has always suspected, Tom now knows firsthand and wonders: "Why don't we just view women and men as completely different cultures? With different languages, different behaviors, and different origins?" Inspired by this realization, Tom analyzes the bewildering universe of gatherers: this mysterious world of best friends, shopping, and sex. With immense need to communicate, dry humor, and an ironic perspective, Tom also observes the way of life of the hunter. He reveals what fulfillment "sitting around without talking" can mean, why men need to channel surf, and that a conversation among hunters begins and ends with the words "Let's go to the basement, drill some stuff."
