Einlaufparade zum 836. Hafengeburtstag
The harbor is still quiet, as we sail as the floating ambassador of the city of Hamburg to greet the visiting ships from all over the world that will celebrate the 836. Hafengeburtstag with us.
Starting with the Elbphilharmonie behind us, we pass the bustling St. Pauli Landungsbrücken and leave the impressive docks of Blohm and Voss on our port side. After the first Elbe beaches in Övelgönne, we sail past Teufelsbrück and have a fantastic view of the unique Elbe slopes of Blankenese on our starboard side. At the height of Stader Sand, we initiate the turning maneuver and head back to our HOMETOWN HARBOUR. Accompanied by the gray ships and the giants, the warships and cruise ships, the barges, the sailing boats with one, two, three, or even four masts, the cogs, fire ships, boarding boats, motor yachts, rowing boats – the small, medium, and really large, the motorized, historical or modern ships. In short – we are sailing in the Einlaufparade with everything that serves for movement on water, back to our berth, where thousands of onlookers are already cheering and waving to welcome us, to celebrate the largest harbor festival in the world with us.
Throughout the journey on the Elbe, the Cap San Diego can be visited at all stations, and every maneuver can be experienced up close in the engine room as well as on the bridge. Our volunteer crew is available for all questions and is always open for a sailor's chat. Today, the Cap San Diego is unique worldwide. Nowhere else can you find a larger seaworthy ship of this class from the era of break bulk carriers.
