tanzmainz
"tanzmainz" is the contemporary dance ensemble of the State Theatre Mainz - a team with high personal responsibility that recognizes and reflects on societal challenges with its innovative dance language in collaboration with guest choreographers.
Philippe Kratz, named Choreographer of the Year 2020 by an Italian dance magazine, developed "Unfolding" with a quartet from the tanzmainz ensemble. The repertoire of highly complex solos evolves in constant relationship to the space into an artistically intertwined group.
"Promise" is the third world premiere by the globally sought-after choreographer Sharon Eyal with tanzmainz, and the consistent further development of her virtuoso skills. The result of a constant reduction of all means. She has pushed the complex interplay of discipline and devotion to the limit. Almost unreal images disappear as quickly as they appear. Intimacy and love, closeness and longing, ecstasy and loneliness: everything seems to blur and yet is clear and distinct in brief moments.
