Stefanie Kerker - Utopia To Go
This morning, at the reality counter:
Good morning, please give me a utopia to take away! Yes, utopia without anything.
At least without false hopes, because that kind of thing doesn’t come in Stefanie Kerker's bag. She looks too closely, knows too well what’s going on in this country.
The musical cabaret artist can sing a song about what moves us from the inside – or what we like to mentally arrange so that we don’t have to move too much.
Occasionally, she leads us onto thin ice with a chatty tone and sells futuristic technology:
an app that gives every person a label in seconds – that keeps you organized and saves space for the analog filing cabinet. Or a device that allows you to tap the energy produced by shaking your head at the state of the world and feed it into your home heating system!
With a beaming smile, Stefanie Kerker pokes fun at collective weaknesses as well as individual ones. Digital believers are hit just as broadly as followers of conspiracy myths, and interspersed among them is the occasional planetary joke.
Criticism is good, but going beyond it is better. Which brings us back to utopia. Because this takeaway humorously sends us off with plenty of positive energy and practical encouragement for everyday life. With that, we should – utopia as a rough estimate – make good progress towards a "Beautiful Life for All."
It would indeed be a laugh!
