Irina Titova – Queen of Sand - In 80 Bildern um die Welt
IRINA TITOVA
QUEEN OF SAND
In 80 Bildern um die Welt
With her sensational show "SANDSATION," the "QUEEN OF SAND" Irina Titova captivated audiences during her first tour in Germany in 2018/2019, and even at the world-famous "Fringe Festival" in Edinburgh, Scotland, she was showered with praise. The talented Russian, residing in Vienna, takes her audience on a live journey "In 80 Bildern um die Welt," and these images leave a lasting impression, even though or precisely because they are so fleeting. After the pandemic years and the current horrific war, the convinced pacifist not only married her Ukrainian husband but also welcomed a child. However, this does not stop her from embarking on a farewell tour of her unique journey around the world, "In 80 Bildern um die Welt," again in the spring of 2027 through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
In this show, the "Queen of Sand" travels together with the spectators, free to the spirit of Jules Verne, "In 80 Bildern um die Welt." On this exciting journey around the globe, the protagonists made of sand experience many adventures, visit landmarks, and marvel at wonders of the world. An illuminated glass plate, a large canvas, and sand—this is all the young artist needs to breathe life into her figures and tell moving stories that bring a smile to everyone's face.
It is breathtaking to see the speed and graceful ease with which the sand queen creates and lets images vanish, only to immediately create something new. It has a hypnotizing effect to watch Irina as the delicate sand flows through her hands and magically forms into true works of art. For her extraordinary talent, Irina Titova has been showered with praise by the press:
"The Russian 'Queen of Sand' demonstrates remarkable precision in her show." (Frankfurter Rundschau, 26.02.2018)
"Irina Titova is a master of transformation. New images emerge from the created ones—Titova's hands are in constant motion. The images are full of symbolism that challenges the intellect of the viewers (...) What dancing fingers can conjure from such a fleeting material." (Donaukurier, 20.03.2018)
"A completely new unity of enchanting images, narrative language, and congenial music that simply captivated." (Eckernförder Zeitung 10.04.2018).
For the special setting, Irina's incredible sand images are accompanied by the narration of the sought-after voice actor Joachim Kerzel. For his dubbing of Jack Nicholson in the film "About Schmidt," Kerzel was awarded the German Dubbing Award in 2003. His distinctive, deep voice has also lent itself to Hollywood stars like Robert De Niro, Sir Anthony Hopkins, and Dustin Hoffman.
The narration for "In 80 Bildern um die Welt" comes from the pen of Katrin Wiegand, who works as a freelance author for audiobooks, radio comedy, and theater, as well as Katrin Edtmeier, who is also responsible for the direction. The atmospherically dense soundtrack featuring music from James Horner ("Titanic") to The Doors and Ennio Morricone has been masterfully assembled by the Austrian musician "Cosy Famous," aka Wolfgang Linhart.
An extraordinary sand painting show by the "Queen of Sand" Irina Titova that takes her audience on an exciting world journey, reminds them to enjoy the magic of the moment, and brings a smile to everyone’s face.
