Danceperados of Ireland - Life, love and lore of the Irish Travellers
In the program "Life, Love and Lore of the Irish Travellers," the Danceperados focus on the Irish nomads. The Travellers are a secluded minority with unusual customs and rituals. Many know them from historical films, as they traverse the landscape with horse and wagon. Superstition and family honor play a significant role in their lives, just like dance and music. Some of the greatest musicians and dancers in Ireland were or are "Travellers." If the Irish nomads had not clung to their traditions even in times when their subculture was deemed backward, Irish Folk might have vanished from the scene.
Similar to Native Americans, the Travellers also had to endure the loss of their way of life. Yet, from this nomadic culture emerged a unique musical strength. The Danceperados tell their story through moving songs, passionate dances, and an impressive multimedia presentation. This unique combination of dance, music, and visual elements creates an atmosphere that touches and excites the audience.
Everything live – without safety nets or double floors
The Danceperados are markedly different from many other productions: Here, everything is played and danced live. No playback, no theatrical illusions – instead, spontaneity, improvisation, and real energy. The audience immediately feels this authenticity.
The ensemble brings together some of the best dancers in Ireland: Together, they hold over 40 World Dancing Champion and All-Ireland titles. The choreography is the work of Michael Donnellan, a multiple World Champion himself. The musical direction is led by accordion virtuoso Eimhin Liddy, accompanied by a quintet of award-winning musicians, including All Ireland Champions.
Enthusiasm from audiences and media
Standing ovations and ecstatic reviews show that the Danceperados succeed in ideally combining culture and entertainment. For 15 years, this concept has delighted both audiences and the press. Danceperados of Ireland – authentic, passionate, unique. Experience an evening full of energy, goosebumps, and unforgettable moments. For those wanting to experience real Ireland – here it is!
