On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the demolition of the city wall of Trier in 2025, an exhibition at the city museum deals with the city wall and the development of the city. Starting from the remnants of the wall that came to light during excavations in the cellar of the Simeonstift during the construction work for the extension, which clearly shows the intertwining of antiquity, the Middle Ages, and modernity, the exhibition connects to the time of the wall's demolition and the present.

After a half-year break, Christoph Sieber is finally back on tour. And that's a good thing.

The world is full of disaster reports, and it is right and important that someone plays against the insanity. In a world of doomsday scenarios, Sieber makes it clear: Hope dies last. In the end, humor prevails. Giving up is not an option.

Many people shouted to him at the end of his last show: Mr. Sieber, please continue! And he always just said: I can't help it. What else do we have to do but keep going?

In "Keep going" it's about us. About societal confusions, about cohesion and what separates us.

As always, Christoph Sieber garnishes current political cabaret with the big themes of our time: football, politics, society, and the question of why naked mole-rats rarely go shopping.

All of this is embellished with singing, dancing, and a whole host of characters lifted straight from life. There's a reunion with Baker Häberle, Charity-Dieter, and finally Sieber's long-lost brother gets to have his say too.

Not only those who appreciate Sieber from television should definitely experience him live. Because nothing defines political cabaret more than laughing, complaining, crying together, and afterwards having a beer in the foyer, knowing: It goes on.

Life is too serious not to laugh about it. True to the motto: You have to laugh so that it can stick in your throat. And who, if not Sieber, could counter the general gloom with his vision: The world sunrise!

A modern fairytale to melt away
The Theater Liberi stages the well-known fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen as a modern musical adaptation. The professional musical ensemble tells the story of the loneliness of an outsider and her desire for admiration and acceptance, as well as courage and unconditional friendship. This contrast is also reflected in the stage design, blurring the boundaries between fantasy and reality. Musically, the audience is taken on a rapid journey through various genres with grand arrangements, complemented by impressive choreography and exceptional lighting design.

Adventure in snow and ice
Gerda and Kay are best friends and inseparable since childhood. The two lead a completely normal life until one day a winter storm approaches their city. That evening, Gerda's mother tells them for the first time the story of a magical queen, the ruler of snow and ice. When Kay suddenly disappears shortly after, Gerda sets out to find him. She ends up in a mysterious world where anything seems possible. Suddenly, Gerda finds herself in the middle of an adventure, encountering funny characters, making an eccentric acquaintance, and falling into the hands of a quirky gang. Welcome to the realm of knowledge in the Baroque era: Stepping onto creaking floorboards into the quiet grandeur of our historical library hall, one is immediately enveloped by the collective knowledge of the Early Modern period. Like stage sets in a Baroque theater, the original bookshelves jut into the space, housing around 50,000 books from all fields of knowledge. Behind unassuming book spines lie remarkable treasures, such as the first German Bible printed in America.

At the end of the 17th century, the orphanage's library was established as one of the first public libraries in Germany. Primarily through donations, book exchanges, and their own publications, the library grew so rapidly that within a few years, it was comparable to significant German university libraries. In 1728, it received its own building, which is considered the oldest surviving secular library structure in Germany. Not only in recent times has the library been visited by guests and researchers from around the world: Albrecht von Haller, Johann Joachim Winckelmann, and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe all admired its bibliophilic treasures. We present a selection of them for you in rotating cabinet exhibitions in the former reading room of the library.

The Art and Natural History Chamber is considered the oldest German museum room. It was established by August Hermann Francke for educational purposes and is now once again set up according to the original museum concept of the 18th century in its historical location in the attic of the Historical Orphanage.

Eighteen richly decorated collection cabinets house approximately 3000 natural specimens, curiosities, and artifacts. They provide a unique impression of a Baroque cabinet of curiosities. Unlike modern museums, the chamber follows an encyclopedic collecting approach. A distinction is made between natural specimens and artifacts. The natural specimens are divided into rocks, plants, and animals, while the artifacts are categorized into visual arts, calligraphy, coins, everyday culture, and clothing. The goal was to create a mirror image of the world: a microcosm that made the macrocosm as the wonderful creation of God tangible.

In a series of events, art projects take place around the Art and Natural History Chamber. In the so-called "Contemporary Reflections on the Art and Natural History Chamber," foundations invite artists to engage in an artistic dialogue with the chamber.

Palace-like, the orphanage rises on Franckeplatz. Then as now, it is the centerpiece of the Francke Foundations. Erected in 1698 as the first building of the school city, it represents a new facet of European Baroque, combining confident representation without extravagant ornamentation and setting the tone for orphanage architecture.

Today, the orphanage is our museum and cultural center. Right from the start, two permanent exhibitions guide you through the history of the foundation and the global impact of Pietism. On the first floor, the former prayer and singing hall surprises with its bright architecture. Today, it enjoys an excellent reputation as a concert hall due to its fantastic acoustics. In the adjacent conference rooms, a photo exhibition showcases the impressive renovation work since the foundations were reestablished in 1991. The second floor is reserved for our changing special exhibitions, which provide insight into important themes of the foundation's history from both a historical and contemporary perspective. Passing through the art and natural history collections in the attic, you reach the balcony via a narrow wooden staircase. Here, a wide view opens up over the impressive ensemble with school buildings from three centuries. There is also a splendid panorama of the Old Town of Halle from here. In the basement, children can explore their own paths in the Krokoseum.

What power does the word have? For Halleschen Pietismus, the word was of central importance. On the ground floor of the Historical Orphanage, we show you how August Hermann Francke's reform movement could spread around the world.

Francke developed central reformative goals of Martin Luther's with Halleschen Pietismus. His approach was as clear as it was revolutionary: Every person should find God through their own Bible reading. However, for this to happen, everyone - boys and girls alike - had to learn to read, everyone should be able to afford their own Bible and it should be printed in their own native language. Therefore, Francke established schools for all social classes, printed millions of German-language People's Bibles, and created an international network through which the Bible was translated into many other languages. His educational initiative allowed a broad population to engage with the word. In the 18th-century evangelical parsonages, the authors of the Romantic and Enlightenment periods were highly regarded. A culture of self-reflection spread in Pietism, which was reflected in diaries and personal testimonies, giving us remarkable insights into the spiritual life of people of that time. Symbolically, the power of the word is also evident in the meticulously restored pulpit from the Church of St. Ulrich in Halle, where Francke preached from 1715 and which you can admire in the exhibition.

4 talers and 16 groschen are considered the founding capital of the Francke Foundations. How an unparalleled school city grew from this unexpected donation to a simple pastor in Glaucha can be discovered on the ground floor of the Historical Orphanage. A multimedia installation and numerous extraordinary objects will transport you into the fascinating founding and impact history of Francke's work. Because what began with a school for the poor and an orphanage, developed in a few decades into a true reform project that was based on education: Over 2,000 students learned in various schools, specially constructed economic buildings, a hospital, and a pharmacy guaranteed the care of over 3,000 people on the premises, unique cultural-historical collections in the library and chamber of wonders were established, and Francke's ideas were spread within and outside Europe. August Hermann Francke wanted nothing less than a "world change through personal change." Discover everything he set in motion through this.

"Chief Inspector Schröder Investigates"

The new "Kriminal COMEDY Dinner" piece by the two successful authors of "Testament à la Carte" revolves around the quirky Chief Inspector Schröder, who must solve a mysterious murder. Of course, he does this while thoroughly exercising the audience's laughter muscles.

Chief Inspector Schröder rushes to the crime scene just on his birthday and is almost a victim of a violent crime himself. Fortunately, he has a code word arranged with his new colleague Pit Zimmermann. Meanwhile, his incompetent boss, the evidence technicians, and his "charming" mother make his life difficult, and as if that weren't enough, Susi has now disappeared – who is Susi??

Whether Chief Inspector Schröder can solve this tricky case, you will find out best for yourself.

New to the program: There is now a lot of handcrafted music in the "Comedy Krimi Dinner," which the two multi-talents skillfully incorporate into the plot. After all, the guests should get what they deserve:

A two-person piece with 16 characters. The 2 actors play nine roles themselves, while the other 7 willingly come from the audience.

Julia Meladin is a phenomenon: "Fear," the newcomer's debut single, has accumulated over 1.3 million streams in a very short period of time, and on TikTok, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter already has more than 287,000 followers. Why? Because Julia Meladin writes songs that not only speak to her own experiences but also resonate deeply with many people, touching their hearts and not letting go easily.

Born in 2003 in a small village in Brandenburg, Julia had early exposure to music. At home, Queen and German New Wave play, and her father plays and writes songs, inspiring his daughter to do the same. Julia started by playing the guitar, then at the age of eight, she wrote her first songs: "These were songs about love in broken English - but I couldn't help it, I just had to write them." With her first band, Julia not only performed covers but also her own songs, which she produced in music class before deciding to release a song snippet on social media for the first time.

One of those songs was "Fear" - a song about one's own fears and how they can sometimes overwhelm us. Direct and unadorned songs about urgent topics like disappointment and loneliness, exclusion and societal coldness, or pressure to succeed and the search for one's own identity. Just like the completely self-produced piece "Fear," which immediately went viral and caught the attention of all major record companies to the singer, songwriter, and musician. After signing with Sony Music, she solidified her status as one of the most exciting German newcomers with her official debut single "10 out of 10", followed by the pop-punk earworm "Beispiel daran" as another pre-release single from her debut EP that is now available. Currently, Julia Meladin has over 5.9 million total streams of her songs and captivates over 287k followers on TikTok, almost 262k monthly Spotify listeners, more than 73.5k Instagram followers, and nearly 76k YouTube subscribers.

"Maybe for you, it's just a few words, while for others, it destroys their confidence, yes," is the message of the 20-year-old to all those who believe they can get a few likes and clicks at the expense of others through body shaming and making fun of them. "Many in my community feel insecure due to beauty trends," explains Julia Meladin. "Not only on social media but also in real life.
