Playing, laughing, being loud, romping, doing nothing – and that in an exhibition house! From September 4, 2024, BAUBAU invites exactly that. In the play space for children designed by artist Kerstin Brätsch, more is allowed than forbidden. Colorful wallpapers, structures, objects, and a range of “Loose Parts” form spaces on the ground floor of the Gropius Bau that do not impose fixed guidelines but are determined by the activities of the children. They dictate the direction and form of what happens here. Thus, this place becomes a space of possibilities that can change day by day.

BAUBAU will launch in September 2024 in a prototype version and will continue to develop and grow over the coming years both inside and outside the Gropius Bau – in close exchange with the children and their wishes, as this is their place.

The Play
All children have the urge to play. This is how they learn to understand themselves and the world. Especially open, self-determined play is of great significance for emotional and social development. The educational concept for BAUBAU is therefore based on the principles of free play: Here, there is time, space, and permission for children to follow their own needs and interests. They are accompanied by playworkers – trained staff who create a safe and supportive environment where children can play freely.

The Art
BAUBAU playfully questions what a museum or an art institution should be. The comprehensive spatial design developed by Kerstin Brätsch is full of references and inspirations: elements from her previous works, such as marbling, paintings, or stucco marble work, reappear here in altered forms and materialities. The wallpapers, curtains, fabrics, seating furniture, and climbing structures are inhabited by dinosaurs, fantastical beings, termite mounds, and abstract elements. With their strange, funny, and perhaps a bit eerie shapes, they create an open framework for free play.

Kerstin Brätsch's practice is designed to allow and incorporate influences from outside. While she has previously collaborated with artists or artisans, she now does so in a completely different way with children: She invites the children to reshape and further develop the space according to their own ideas and visions, without the influence of the artist in unpredictable ways.

When die feisten do what they love to do best, plenty of new songs tumble out of their songwriting machine: one for the concert guests who were forcibly shipped there, who would rather be at a soccer game or a heavy metal gig. Another one about all of our minimum shelf life: "Mein Körper und ich" shows how one can laugh about their own decay. This will be funny. All the new stories in good company of die feisten hits. Be there. We guarantee it.

There are few artists with a similarly good reputation as the Simon & Garfunkel Revival Band. Wherever they perform, the full-blooded musicians leave behind an enthusiastic audience and rave reviews.

In their program "Feelin' Groovy," they present the most beautiful songs of the cult duo.

Dreamlike, passionate ballads like "Scarborough Fair" or "Bright Eyes," classics like "Mrs. Robinson," "The Boxer," or "The Sound of Silence" are just as much a part of the extensive repertoire as the infectious "Cecilia."

Simply playing them back is not enough! To evoke the musical feeling and the many little musical nuances, one also needs first-class musicians. Michael Frank on vocals & guitar, Guido Reuter on vocals, violin, keys, and flute, accompanied by Sebastian Fritzlar on piano, guitar, drums & bass, as well as Ingo Kaiser on drums, create a balancing act of perfected cover and personal interpretation so authentically that the audience gets caught in a real whirlpool between their very rhythmic and emotive numbers. With their meticulously coordinated vocal and instrumental performances, they blur the line between original and copy. The vocal ranges that are nearly perfectly aligned with the originals are hard to surpass in authenticity.

The instrumental skills of the musicians are just as impressive as their stage presence. They put on a perfect show without the need for large show effects.

The permanent exhibition on the life and work of Erich Maria Remarque offers a detailed look into the life, work, and thoughts of the famous writer through numerous photographs, documents, and manuscripts. The exhibition is bilingual, presented in German and English throughout.

Divided into seven sections covering his youth in Osnabrück (1898–1921), the years in Hanover and Berlin (1922–1928), the discussion around All Quiet on the Western Front (1928–1930), his exile in Europe (1931–1939) and the USA (1939–1948), his political works in the 1950s, and the 1960s leading up to his death on September 25, 1970 in Locarno, the exhibition attempts to highlight the ruptures, contradictions, and controversies in Remarque's life while emphasizing their productivity for his work. It illustrates Remarque's numerous psychological conflicts, aiming to resolve the apparent contradiction between the "bon vivant" and the "militant pacifist," and provides insight into his acquaintances, friendships, and marriages. Numerous originals such as the death mask or Remarque's original desk complement the presentation.

Another focus of the exhibition is the worldwide, often highly controversial reception of Remarque's works, which have been translated into at least 60 languages and continue to attract a global audience of millions.

An information terminal allows visitors to delve deeper into specific questions about Remarque's life and work. Another terminal provides access to over 2,000 photographs spanning all stages of Remarque's life, his residences, contacts, and the film adaptations of his works.

The exhibition is open for free visits on Tuesdays to Fridays from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 5 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm. Guided tours for school classes and other interest groups can also be arranged outside regular opening hours. Tours can be scheduled with Mr. Martin Siemsen (siemsen.m@osnabrueck.de) by phone at 0541/323-2109 or fax at 0541/323-4355.

A shop on-site offers materials related to Remarque's life and work for sale.

The castle with a lot to offer: "HerrschaftsZeiten! Erlebnis Cadolzburg" from June 24, 2017 at the Cadolzburg - the new highlight of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region

A powerful castle - the setting of the illustrious history of a ruling family that has achieved great success: this was and is the Cadolzburg. The rulers were the Hohenzollern family, who ruled over Franken and later Brandenburg, also gaining electoral dignity in the 15th century. Later on, they even became Prussian kings and German emperors.

The Cadolzburg derives its radiance not only from its role as the starting point of a significant career in the Holy Roman Empire - the impressive structure itself reflects this golden era of the Hohenzollerns. The new museum "HerrschaftsZeiten! Erlebnis Cadolzburg" of the Bavarian Administration of State Castles will make this time - the late Middle Ages - exciting and informative for visitors through innovative communication concepts. While walking through the castle, visitors can learn not only about the architectural history, wars and peace, daily life, and governing tasks of the princely castle residents. There is much to discover here through interactive and sensory means:

Visitors can experience the castle through their sense of smell, there are tactile stations, sounds and dialogues, vivid models, and invitations to try things out. Exciting or challenging games, medieval Hohenzollerns in their own words, and the jester Contz who guides visitors through the castle bring the Middle Ages to life. Visitors can also expect to see several original medieval artifacts such as swords, maces, or a magnificent treasure chest. Other objects were specially crafted for the museum based on extensive research in historical techniques, such as the gilded armor of the famous General Albrecht Achilles, or textiles dyed according to original recipes. The Bavarian Administration of State Castles also made significant contributions to experimental historical research, like creating a breastplate from boiled leather, in line with the ambition of creating one of Germany's most important castle museums.

The cultural communication of the Bavarian Administration of State Castles also offers a diverse program of accompanying events, making this exciting history even more intriguing - for the young nobleman as well as the castle enthusiast.

Not only the Middle Ages but also the Cadolzburg itself now comes back to life. After the extensive damage of World War II, original medieval rooms and successful architectural creations of the 21st century can now be experienced. The modern buildings completed in 2017 bridge the medieval era with our present time.

You can expect very special experiences here - it truly is THE CASTLE WITH A LOT TO OFFER.

The beauty of B-sides is traditionally that true fans get their money's worth here. No "Sledge Hammer" or "We Will Rock You" can be found here. It is the graceful, sometimes rather quiet nuances of the artist that are given space here. Andy Ost presents on his "B-side" intimate yet extremely humorous insights away from his countless "hits." An evening to enjoy, dream, marvel, and laugh, or simply put, an evening with Andy Ost.

The Romantic era was a particularly brilliant period for portrait miniatures, reaching its peak and at the same time signaling the end of this special painting technique. Countless artists created portraits with great empathy and astonishing technical perfection. More people than ever collected small portraits of their loved ones to carry with them or to gather at home as a pictorial family album. 142 masterpieces from the renowned Tansey collection illuminate the heyday of an art that had to make way for photography during the 19th century.

Accompanying the exhibition is a catalog that, in addition to the annotated reproduction of all works, is distinguished by essays by various experts on aspects of miniature painting during this time. Hirmer Verlag, bilingual German/English, 432 pages, 208 color illustrations.

With Robert Kreis, you can wonderfully fall out of time. The 74-year-old is a master of entertainment with a mission: He wants to preserve the Jewish cultural heritage of the Weimar era.
Robert Kreis is coming back to Lorsch!

Highly esteemed audience, now take a look at me!
Highly esteemed audience, here comes no old man!

I have been spinning around the stage like a whirlwind for 50 years now, presenting you pearls from the immense treasure trove of Jewish entertainment.
The fact that you have constantly remained loyal to me all these years has given me the opportunity to let the sunken treasures of the Weimar era shine in the spotlight again. I thank you for that. Wonderful!

My profession consistently gets in the way of getting older; however, time does not stand still, and a special event has taken place:

I look at the calendar, and what do I find?
– I am 76!!
But I don’t care and continue on,
as always – lively and cheerful!
Being a retiree – nonsense!
If you keep visiting me –
I’m sure I’ll still be admired by my audience even at 100!!

With Robert Kreis, you can wonderfully fall out of time. The 74-year-old is a master of entertainment with a mission: He wants to preserve the Jewish cultural heritage of the Weimar era. His trademark, the Menjou mustache, is unmistakable and points directly to the time he has dedicated himself to. Robert Kreis is considered one of the fathers of the 1920s retro wave that emerged in the 1980s. The cabaret artist, entertainer, and pianist embodies the entertainment era of the 1920s and 1930s with his complete demeanor.

"Humor is the only button that prevents our collar from bursting!" With this credo, Robert Kreis has made it his task to entertain his audience with an ironic wink and unmistakable musical talent in solo and orchestral programs.

Biting and ironic, but also hilariously funny, he mainly presents his programs on German stages. However, now and then he travels abroad, for example, to New York, where he was allowed to showcase his talents at a cultural festival. Undoubtedly, Robert Kreis is a very special personality, and an evening with him promises great cabaret.

CüneytAkanProgram:DramaKingIn his program "DRAMA KING," the Wiesbaden-based Cüneyt Akan shows that not everything that happens in life needs to be understood. He doesn’t understand it all himself. The likable comedian takes you into his world of failed relationships, longing for the past, and identity crises – but please, not too much drama... So let yourself be captivated and swept away by his spontaneity and punchy dialogues. One thing is guaranteed – it won't be like what one expects from comedy.About CüneytAnyone who wants to experience what empathy means simply has to get to know Cüneyt! The German-Turk knows how to talk about family, work, and social issues in a charming and lovable way. Of course, always with a little wink. But beware: Those expecting cliché comedy from him will be disappointed. In addition to his numerous stage performances, including "NightWash live" (nationwide) and at the "Quatsch Comedy Club" (Berlin, Hamburg, Munich), Cüneyt Akan can also be seen on TV again and again.

From the magic of coincidence and the power of possibilities: With his program Was solls“, Roger Stein connects to his previous program “Alles vor dem Aber… ist egal” – and goes beyond the obstructive “But” into the endless melody of possibilities: poetic, political, pointed.

“Was solls” is an emotional guide to love and serenity. No matter what may come next. Stein's dark humor is certainly the focal point behind all that serenity.

In search of answers to abstract questions, the charming wordsmith brings 90 minutes of concentrated entertainment: for laughing, loving, listening – and not least for chatting and singing along.

Roger Stein’s melodies are captivating, the lyrics fluctuate between biting, wicked, and tender. His thought games, always a hand's breadth off the mainstream, provide a skylight to happiness. Along the way, Roger Stein pointedly exposes Cancel Culture as a marketing ploy, plays with the metaphysics of metaphors, and shows what happens when one enters their own self through the back door.

Roger Stein has long found an artistic home with his songs on the record label of Konstantin Wecker, where he has been releasing his albums since 2013. In “Alles, was möglich ist” coincidence runs as a central theme throughout the program. And so the mischievous song poet wonders: Is the reality in which we live truly the only choice? Could the – recently popularized by the Nobel Prize – quantum entanglement not be proof that there are parallel worlds? Are we ourselves owners of our own parallel worlds? And is randomness even conceivable without a logic constructed by us humans?

In her program "Kopf hoch, Brust raus!", Daphne de Luxe, with her usual cheerfulness and self-irony, addresses the pitfalls of everyday life and delves into societal phenomena by amusingly examining the behavior of her own family once again. Self-ironic, authentic, and with a wink, Daphne de Luxe skillfully demonstrates humor and attitude as she amusingly sheds light on topics such as influencers, fascination with disgust, role-playing, or other curiosities in the lives of her relatives. Because who else can be better observed in their everyday peculiarities than the more or less beloved family members? But even her own reflection never escapes the critical eye of the humorist. The master of self-irony reminisces about family celebrations, analyzes the strange hobbies of her relatives with amusing kitchen psychology, as well as the odd career aspirations of the younger generation, philosophizes about our sometimes contradictory way of living, and entertainingly highlights the idiosyncrasies of her fellow human beings. "Kopf hoch, Brust raus!" also signifies not letting one's head hang in every situation, but rather viewing life with a wink and seeking reasons to laugh. This program is certainly a good start! The much-discussed mother-in-law, nephew John-Pierre, the unwelcome sister-in-law Heidrun, and her daughter Leonie provide plenty of material for amusing anecdotes from the life of Daphne de Luxe. And of course, the adversities of everyday life do not spare house cat Schrödi, who now needs to take heart medication and sometimes uses the robotic vacuum cleaner as a taxi to the litter box. The humorist also impresses in her sixth comedy program with her unique mix of stylish performance, entertaining amusement, winking self-irony, cabaret depth, unconditional authenticity, and touching singing. New songs and anecdotes, loads of humor and self-irony ensure relentlessly good entertainment and allow the audience to forget their everyday life for at least two hours or laugh heartily about their own life challenges.

7 PM

Daphne de Luxe presents cabaret, comedy, and one or the other song in her programs. Situational comedy, improvisational talent, and the addressing of current social issues make each of her performances unique. It is her authenticity that touches and inspires. And when she steps onto the stage in one of her sensual dresses, a murmur often sweeps through the hall.

Privately, Daphne de Luxe is quite different. In contrast to her extremely tough, assertive, and quick-witted stage persona, the private Daphne is sometimes rather conservative. No glamour and no "de Luxe make-up," but gardening, chickens, and growing old vegetable varieties occupy the “XL-Barbie” of the German comedy scene when she is not on stage. The blonde powerhouse has diverse interests, and her loyal fans know that she could have also become a successful zoologist. The existing expertise is astonishing. Thus, it was only a matter of time until these topics found their way into one of her stage programs.

“Artgerecht – A Seriously Human Program” is the title of the show, and it delivers on its promise. Daphne de Luxe humorously draws parallels between humans and animals, explains why men love to look into women's décolletés, and shares surprising insights with her audience.

“Artgerecht” also stands for amusing observations about human coexistence and how it is changing. The humorist takes a critical look at our consumption and eating habits, but never forgets the enjoyment without regret amidst all of this. Beautiful songs and anecdotes, plenty of humor and self-irony ensure relentlessly good entertainment. The entertainer, often referred to as the likable "powerhouse," intentionally chats ambiguously about her perspective and gives her audience the feeling of listening to the amusing stories of a best friend. An evening could hardly be more entertaining.
