For the third edition of the series initiated by the cultural office last year under the title "Comedy Haus," four young comedians could once again be engaged. Fans know them from YouTube, from television, or from social media, where some of them can count millions of views. Sara Karas, Yorick Thiede, Maximilian Lorenz, and Pegah Meggendorfer are highly sought-after newcomers who have established themselves in the German comedy scene in a short period and fill venues to capacity.
Sara Karas
The native of Potsdam stands for charming, intelligent stand-up comedy that immediately engages the audience. With sharp wit, honest naivety, and a healthy dose of self-irony, she tells of the pitfalls of everyday life. Karas grew up in the village of Kloster Lehnin, attended the Babelsberg Film School, and studied media management and industrial management in Mittweida. After minor film projects, she ventured into various startups. In 2019, she performed as a stand-up comedian for the first time. She can be seen regularly in well-known comedy formats across Germany, such as NightWash and the Quatsch Comedy Club. Already within her first year on stage, Karas appeared on television. She brings fresh perspectives to the stage, connects intergenerational themes, and creates evenings that are fondly remembered – not only because she is funny but also because she is honest, approachable, and full of heart.
Yorick Thiede
An artist without an artistic background, that is Yorick Thiede. Growing up on a farm that he was expected to take over, he decided on a career that could not have been further removed from that. Everything about Thiede – from his appearance to his stand-up itself – plays out between opposites. His demeanor seems rough, his thoughts are sensitive, his delivery is dry, his stories are captivating. Thiede tells his stories with a natural lightness. Each surreal tale he tells becomes three-dimensional and tangible within seconds, as if the audience were right there with him. He is part of the "4 Feinde" comedy collective, which carried out the biggest stunt in the history of German comedy in September 2022. The group managed to book a performance through a prank call at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne and subsequently, against all expectations, sold out the 3,542 seats of the arena’s theater variant.
Maximilian Lorenz
Maximilian Lorenz is a stand-up comedian living in Berlin from Munich. On stage, he passionately and opinionatedly talks about everything as long as it is funny. With quick comprehension, precise formulations, and unexpected perspectives, he captures the spirit of the times and does not shy away from laughing at himself first. Additionally, Lorenz published his debut novel "Frostbeben" as an author and enriches social media almost daily with new content. His podcast "ok, random." delivers what it promises.
Pegah Meggendorfer
The half-Iranian comedian hails from Bad Aibling and observes life with sharpness and affection. Meggendorfer tells with dry humor about situations everyone knows: the horror of the federal youth games or the question of why one sometimes should fake a baby bump. With a wink, she also targets societal issues – from cultural identity to female self-understanding to the contradictions between an ambitious career in journalism and comedy performances at fairs full of drunks. Meggendorfer combines sharp wit with self-irony. She does not laugh at others but together with the audience about the chaos of life.
The event will be moderated by Ansgar Hufnagel, who also guides the audience through the evenings of the poetry slams presented by the cultural office at the Kesselhaus cultural center.
Changes to the line-up are reserved.
