Thomas Leleu, Tuba
Christoph König Violin/Viola | Maurice Maurer Violin | Miroslav Nisic Accordion
Jakob Kühnemann Double Bass
Uwaga!, the crossover enthusiasts, meet the French tuba virtuoso Thomas Leleu. Born in 1987 in Lille, he was celebrated in France as a young shooting star and is regarded as an ambassador of his instrument. The tuba has always belonged in the spotlight, the Frenchman has found. He can not only coax a sensual legato from the brass elephant but can also let it shine virtuously in breathtaking tempos. Now, the tuba has been declared Instrument of the Year 2024 in Germany.
The concert program moves between classical music, world music, and pop, and offers many surprises: whether in Mozart and Beethoven classics, Christoph König's gypsy compositions, French chansons, where the tuba takes over the vocal part in the quartet, or in the tribute to opera and tango - these musicians manage to present everything perfectly. Violins in dialogue with the tuba, impressive accordion and bass solos, or space-filling chamber orchestra sound - the violinists Christoph König and Maurice Maurer, accordionist Miroslav Nisic, and double bassist Jakob Kühnemann, together with their French guest tuba player Thomas Leleu, offer a dazzling program.
