POLECATS - Support: Rockin´ Batz
The Polecats began in the late 1970s as The Cult Heroes, featuring Tim Polecat and Boz Boorer on guitar, Phil Bloomberg on bass, and Chris Hawkes on drums, playing in youth clubs in the Mill Hill neighborhood in North London.
Boz and Phil shared vocals at that time. With a change in drummers from Chris to Neil Rooney and with Tim as the singer, the Polecats were born. The band released their first single "Rockabilly Guy" on Nervous Records and soon signed with the major label Phonogram. With the release of their first album "Polecats are Go" in 1981, they established themselves as one of the most exciting rock bands ever. The album was followed by the UK Top 30 hit singles "John I’m only dance," a re-recording of "Rockabilly Guy," and "Jeepster."
In early 1982, The Polecats released the hit single "Make a Circuit with me" and replaced Neil Rooney with Poorboys drummer John Buck. After a brief "break" between 1985 and 1988, the Polecats continued to perform worldwide, regularly playing in Europe, Japan, and the USA. In the early 90s, they released two albums for the Japanese label Vinyl Japan, "Won’t Die" and "Nine." And in 1994, the now rare "White Devils" was released, inspired by a name given to the band in Japan.
The US/UK Top 30 single "Make a Circuit" was part of the promotion for the Disney film "Wall-E" and appeared in the US sitcom "Glory Daze."
Tim now lives in Palm Springs, and Boz spends most of his time in his studio in Portugal, but both remain closely connected to Mill Hill. Tim and Phil wrote the music for the 2010 film "Isle of Dogs," which also features John Buck in a role. Now, in their 47th year, the Polecats continue to rock hard with no end in sight.
The unchanged lineup since 1982, consisting of Boz Boorer, Phil Bloomberg, John Buck, and Tim Polecat, still performs their UK chart hits "Rockabilly Guy," "John I´m only dance," "Jeepster," and "Make a Circuit with Me," along with tracks from their 4 studio albums and the new CD EP Crepe Soul.
