Édith Voges Nana Tchuinang - Das Treffen der Königinnen
Thrown into a game situation, two performers face off in an unusual duel: the Cameroonian director Édith Nana and the German performer Kerstin Pohle embody powerful, historical queens – one African, the other Western.
But the “Meeting of the Queens” turns out to be much more than a simple trump game. With each round, it becomes clear that this is not just about the search for cultural role models, but that the hidden rules of the system are also put to the test: patriarchal structures, capitalist concepts, and questions of socially assigned role distributions and cultural appropriation.
With a mix of theater, game, music, and video art, we encounter bold and inspiring female figures on stage and in history, whom the two artists bring to life. However, the game increasingly gets caught in its own rules.
What role models shape our identity? Whose stories are told? Who writes the rules? And whose game is this, anyway?
The play is the third and final part of Nana's queens trilogy, following “The Last Queen” and “The Last Queen 2.” Accompanied by Cameroonian Mvet player François ALIMA and German video artist Nils Voges (sputnic), we embark on a journey that is both multimedia and philosophical, questioning traditions, role models, and concepts of identity.
