Samantha Ellis' wonderfully humorous stroke of genius about the burning topic of feminism today and the question of who is the more genuine feminist in this pairing, the woman or the man, premiered in 2016 in London and has since made an impressive career on German stages.
Kate likes machos, Steve is a feminist. He grew up in a women's protest camp, she as a sheltered only child in a suburban London. Kate's father thinks Steve is too "different", Steve's mother considers Kate materialistic and unliberated. Nevertheless, Kate and Steve find each other irresistible - and end up in a comedic exchange where the two players quickly swap roles to poke fun at the complexities of relationships and traditional gender roles. And, last but not least: Can a man really be a feminist? In fact, Kate's and Steve's marriage starts to crumble at their wedding celebration - and it takes a tremendous leap for both to overcome their own shadows to finally become a real couple in a furious finale.
