Peter Zimmermann: Yes, for Heine even on my knees. His vision written down in 1844 has become reality: revolutions have been suppressed, Germany has instigated two world wars, millions of Jews have been murdered or displaced, the attempt to build a fairer Germany has failed. The restoration of the right and their descendants of lateral thinkers and Reich citizens could gain full momentum.
- Does this land of poets and thinkers need again a "stool movement," as you put it, to wake up?
Peter Zimmermann: I am not a pessimist, and Heinrich Heine is not either. Heine cries his love for Germany with biting sarcasm and profound yearning for justice and democracy into the world.
