Ich liege und schlafe op. 110/2 (Excerpt)
Time and again, the young singers of the Leipzig ensemble voicemade are driven by a thirst for discovery. They delve into archives for unpublished treasures and have thus discovered the Florilegium Portense, a collection of motets from the early 17th century. Bach was familiar with the collection and ordered it for his Thomanerchor. For us today, the collection of known and unknown compositions is a window into the music-making practices of the Baroque era. The Leipzig musicians also open an interesting window into the present: With several works by Łukaszewski (*1968), we listen to music from an outstanding Polish composer of our time.
