Die Geierwally

At the top of the Tyrolean mountains lives the Geierwally on the farm of her authoritarian father. Her only friend is a lammergeier, which she rescued as a chick from the nest. On her confirmation, she falls hopelessly in love with the handsome Joseph, who, however, wants nothing to do with her.

Because of her love for Joseph, she rejects the marriage proposed by her father with the neighbor Vinzenz and is banished to the mountains. In the hope that the stubborn child has become reasonable, Wally is finally allowed to return. Although both spend their lives trying to understand the world, they couldn't be more different: while the explorer Alexander von Humboldt fights through jungle and steppe, the mathematician and astronomer Carl Friedrich Gauß never goes beyond the square of Braunschweig/Göttingen throughout his life - yet he delves into spheres where, in the infinite, the parallels meet.
