Was für Zeiten! Egal wo man hinsieht: Überall nur Spaltung und Gräben.

Ein Konflikt ist dabei so alt wie die Menschheit: Alt gegen jung, jung gegen alt. Aber nicht nur die krachen gnadenlos aufeinander. Babyboomer wettern gegen die Generation Z, Traditionalisten können mit Millennials nix anfangen und die jüngste Generation Alpha ist verzweifelt, weil sie noch gar nicht so genau weiß, gegen wen sie alles sein muss.

Und manche fragen sich: Welche Generation bin ich eigentlich? Was, wenn ich mit 18 gerne beige trage und Horst Lichter gut finde? Was, wenn ich mit 70 Tik-Tok Videos drehe und Egoshooter zocke?

Wie gut, dass es Doris und Torsten gibt. Denn die zwei Paradebeispiele tragen für uns den Generationenkonflikt dahin wo er hingehört: auf die Spitze. Doris (70), hat bisher gern und gut allein gelebt, aber nun ist der kleine Torsten (40) bei seiner Freundin und den Kindern rausgeflogen und hat sich notgedrungen bei Doris einquartiert. Und das schon fünf Monate, in denen noch immer nicht geklärt ist, wer von beiden das hat, was heute jeder haben muss: Recht.

Aber sobald der Pulverdampf im Generationenkampf mal kurz verflogen ist, sieht man hier und da gemeinsame Ansichten und Werte, die so gar nicht zum Generationenklischee passen wollen. Ganz nach dem Motto: Ich bin so oft schockiert, wie alt die Menschen meines Alters sind!

What times! No matter where you look: Everywhere there is only division and rifts.

One conflict is as old as humanity itself: old against young, young against old. But it's not just the old and young clashing mercilessly against each other. Baby boomers rant against Generation Z, traditionalists can't make heads or tails of millennials, and the youngest Generation Alpha is desperate because they don’t even know who they should be against.

And some wonder: What generation am I actually? What if I like to wear beige at 18 and find Horst Lichter appealing? What if I’m making TikTok videos and playing first-person shooters at 70?

How fortunate that there are Doris and Torsten. Because these two prime examples take the generational conflict where it belongs: to the extreme. Doris (70) has always lived happily and well alone, but now little Torsten (40) has been thrown out by his girlfriend and kids and has had to move in with Doris. And that’s been five months, during which it remains unresolved who of the two has what everyone today must have: the right.

But as soon as the smoke clears in the generational battle, one can see here and there common views and values that don’t seem to fit the generational cliché at all. Just like the motto: I’m as shocked as often as I find out how old people my age are!
